Chappell Roan fans have applauded the singer for 'standing up for herself' after an unacceptable comment from a photographer at the VMAs.

Award ceremonies are an exciting time for fans and celebs alike to come together and celebrate some of the scene's hottest talent together.

From performances and backstage interviews all the way through red carpet arrivals - it's clear the whole charade is a total blast start to finish.

However, the last thing you want spoiling the fun is a photographer getting way too big for his boots and having the audacity to seemingly tell an artist to 'shut the f**k up' slap-bang in the middle of the red carpet.

And, unfortunately, that was exactly the case for 26-year-old singer, Chappell Roan, who had an absolutely incredible response after being met with the 'mind boggling' comment during the MTV Video Music Awards last night (11 September).

Footage from the night sees the 'Casual' singer getting ready to be papped while an assistant sorted her outfit while, off screen, a man can be heard yelling: "Shut the f**k up."

Without missing a beat, Chappell turned around and clapped back: "You shut the f**k the up!"

As the surrounding paparazzi cheered, the pop icon added: "No, not me b*tch."

Expertly handled in my opinion.

One X user praised: "Love her. People hate a strong woman. I think she’s such a brilliant example for her generation, always showing that it’s OK to stand up for yourself and hold firm on your boundaries!!!"

"They need to show her respect! Good for her!" chirped a second, while a third chimed in: "Nah actually good for her, there's no reason for someone to be talking like that to anyone, threw them right off their high horse no care in the world for it."

Another gushed: "I love her now wtf."

And a final X user echoed: "Genuinely mind boggled that someone thought it was appropriate to tell an artist to shut the fuck up on the red carpet, ESPECIALLY at an event like the VMAs.

"This is a huge event, you need to be professional, I applaud Chappell for standing up for herself."

Agreed.

Last month, Chappell was inundated with support from fans after hitting back at the 'creepy abuse' she's suffered from 'weird' people for 'harassing' both herself and her family.

The 'Femininomenon' hit-maker shared two videos to her three million followers on TikTok explaining her experiences being 'bullied' online and challenged the assumption that this 'crazy' kind of 'abuse' is widely considered 'normal' for celebrities.
