Gabrielle Union has started a debate on social media after revealing that she and her husband, Dwyane Wade, split their finances equally.
In a May interview with Bloomberg Originals, the Bring It On star said: "It's weird to say I'm head of household because in this household, we split everything 50/50.
"But in the other households that each of us has to support, it puts this — there's always like this gorilla on your back, that's like, 'You better work! You better work! You want to sleep in? [Then] somebody might not eat.' And it's hard."

Union is both mum to her daughter, Kaavia, 4, whom she shares with former professional basketball player Wade, and stepmum to his three older children from previous relationships, Zaire, 21, Zaya, 15, and Xavier, 9.
She admitted that she feels the pressure to keep working now that she has a family so she can "hold everyone up."
“I have more responsibilities for my money,” she shared. “I get nervous if a movie doesn’t open, am I gonna have enough to hold everyone up?”

Following the interview, people took to Twitter to share their opinions and they definitely didn't hold back.
One user wrote: "Gabrielle union said she goes 50/50 with her husband ??????? 50/50 with a retired NBA star ????? OH BABY HELL NAAAAAAAH."
Another implied splitting finances evenly didn't make sense since the former NBA star likely brings in large sums of money as the co-owner of the Utah Jazz basketball team.

They said, "Gabrielle Union said she go 50/50 with a man who is a part owner of an NBA team," before adding, "the lights are on but ain’t nobody home."
People seem particularly shocked at the news considering Wade had a child with another woman whilst Union was experiencing fertility issues, as revealed in her 2021 memoir, You Got Anything Stronger.
One tweet on the matter says, "Gabrielle Union saying she goes 50/50 with Dwayne Wade after him having that outside baby on you is wild but even wilder you took that dude back after that act he pulled on you."

Others simply asked Union to stop "airing her business" online.
That being said, some were more supportive of Union's relationship with Wade and called people "bizarre" for focussing so intently on a "passing comment" in an extensive interview.
And, seemingly in response to the social media criticism she's faced, Union shared a video to her Instagram on Thursday of her greeting Wade while Beyonce sings "I am on to see my husband" in the background.

She captioned the post, "I love when he matches my energy, 50/50 over here."
