Heartstopper star Kit Connor has called out fans for 'forcing' him to come out as bisexual after Twitter users incessantly speculated about his sexuality.
The actor had been taking a hiatus from the app, when he briefly returned to announce the news that people had been hounding him for.
"Back for a minute", he wrote. "I’m bi. Congrats for forcing an 18 year old to out himself. I think some of you missed the point of the show. Bye."

Since it first dropped on Netflix back in April 2022, Heartstopper has been a roaring success, particularly among LGBTQ+ viewers.
The series tells the story of teenage boys Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor) who discover that their unlikely friendship may be something more.
Unfortunately, over the last few months, the young actors in the series have been accused by fans of 'queerbaiting'.

It all kicked off last month, when Kit was targeted by fans who allegedly caught him holding hands with actress Maia Reficco, sparking a wave of 'queerbaiting' accusations and causing Kit to quit Twitter, calling it a 'silly silly app'.
After his brief return to Twitter to make his sexuality clear to ruthless fans once and for all, Kit was met with a wave of support from fans and co-stars.
Heartstopper creator Alice Oseman replied to Kit's tweet, writing: "I truly don't understand how people can watch Heartstopper and then gleefully spend their time speculating about sexualities and judging based on stereotypes. I hope all those people are embarrassed as f***. Kit you are amazing."

Meanwhile, Kit's co-star Kizzy Edgell tweeted: "I love u kit im sorry this has been so disgustingly rough on you. been treated so unfairly [sic]".
Labour MP Nadia Whittome, who identifies as queer, wrote: "Being forced to come out is being outed, and it’s disgusting. I’m sorry you’ve been put through that. Sending you so much love and solidarity, Kit."
And Joe Locke, who stars alongside Kit in the beloved Netflix series replied: "You owe nothing to anyone. I’m so proud of you my friend."

Before this incident, Kit had refused to label his sexuality, repeatedly reminding fans that it was his information to share.
Back in May, he hit out at Heartstopper fans who were debating Kit's sexual orientation by tweeting: "Twitter is so funny man. Apparently some people on here know my sexuality better than I do."
Heartstopper is available to stream now on Netflix.
