While we were knocked for six when Jason Momoa announced his split from Lisa Bonet after 16 years together – some believe the pair’s separation may have been on the cards long before the official announcement dropped this week.
In an interview with longtime friend Maria Tomei, Bonet, 54, seemed to suggest that their marriage was coming to an end.
“The revolution is definitely here and we’re all feeling the squeeze. If you aren’t, you’re in total denial, and the more you resist, the more you will suffer,” she explained in Interview magazine, which was published on 21st December.
“Everything is crumbling out there. The personal work is understanding where empire and those archetypes live within us. The revolution is on the inside, and learning to be new in this new world.”
Bonet added that the future looked uncertain for her.
“[I’m] definitely learning how to be authentically me, learning to be new, and following this invitation from the universe to step into this river of uncertainty,” she said.
“We’ve eliminated all this extra noise, and now it’s time to grow our roots deeper into our own values.”
The language used by Bonet is not dissimilar to the language that was used in the couple’s joint statement, which was made public on Thursday.
"We have all felt the squeeze and changes of these transformational times…” the statement read.
"A revolution is unfolding ~ and our family is of no exception… feeling and growing from the seismic shifts occurring. And so ~ We share our Family news ~ That we are parting ways in marriage.
"We share this not because we think it’s newsworthy ~ But so that ~ as we go about our lives we may do so with dignity and honesty.
The statement continued: "The love between us carries on, evolving in ways it wishes to be known and lived. We free each other ~ to be who we are learning to become… Our devotion unwavering to this sacred life & our children.
"Teaching our Children what’s possible ~ Living the Prayer may Love Prevail.”
In other news, Game of Thrones fans are hoping Momoa hooks up with his former co-star and on-screen wife Emilia Clarke.
While the pair have never shown any romantic inclination in each other, fans took to Momoa’s Instagram to tell the pair, who have maintained a close friendship, that they would make a good couple.
