The late night talk show host, 55, joked about her time working with Matt Damon in the 2015 film The Martian to reignite his fake feud with the Jason Bourne star, 52.
"Was it difficult filming your movie, The Martian, because your costar, Matt Damon, can't read and smells like dog medicine?"
Some social media users were left wondering why Jessica decided to wear a face mask although it is no longer required to do so in public spaces.

Fans suggested that the reason Jessica wore a mask was to protect the cast of the Broadway show she’s currently working with. The 2022 Best Actress Oscar winner is starring on Broadway in the revival of the play A Doll’s House and fans think she wore the mask in consideration of her fellow actors and crew.
One appreciative fan praised Jessica, writing: “I really appreciate Jessica Chastain wearing a mask at the Oscars tonight. I'm presuming it's because she is currently in a Broadway show -- that consideration to the A Doll's House show, its performers/crew, and its audiences is appreciated.”
Similarly, another fan explained: “She is currently headlining a Broadway show that can’t continue performances if she gets covid & it will affect the income of everyone involved. She’s doing what she can to mitigate chances of bringing Covid back to the theatre. These are Equity rules. She’s being a good person.”
