Kate Garraway has confirmed that her husband Derek Draper is back in hospital as he continues to recover from his lengthy battle with Covid-19.
Speaking at the TRIC Awards on Wednesday, 6 July, Kate, 55, offered a health update on her husband, revealing that he had been sent back to hospital.
Derek, 54, was originally hospitalised after testing positive for Covid-19 back in 2020. The author was put into an induced coma for a month, and wound up staying in hospital for over a year.

Although his body managed to successfully beat the deadly virus, he suffered a number of health complications as a result of the infection, including clots in his lungs, kidney failure, heart failure, and damage to his liver and pancreas.
After emerging from his coma, Kate confirmed that Derek was still living in a 'minimally conscious state', which doctors warned, at the time could last indefinitely.
Months after emerging from his coma, Derek finally managed to say his first word, which Kate revealed in a devastating update to be 'pain'.

After a year away from Kate and their children Darcey, 16, and Billy, 12, Derek finally got to return home in April 2021, with the addition of full wheelchair accessibility in the house and 24-hour care from a special team of carers.
Although Derek had made a few outings with Kate and the family in late 2021, Kate told press that they had left him feeling very weak and tired.
This week, when asked for an update on her husband's condition, Kate told The Sun: "He's OK, he's back in hospital actually, so that's a development. There we are."

Kate chose not to get into details about why exactly Derek had gone back to hospital.
The Good Morning Britain presenter dove into the details of her husband's health journey in two separate ITV documentaries: Finding Derek and Caring for Derek.
In Caring For Derek, which aired in February 2022, seriously emotional footage showed supporters the day-to-day reality of looking after the former psychotherapist.
Kate revealed in the documentary that her husband would die within three days if he was left without expert medical care.

Viewers also learned that it took months for Derek to regain the ability to tell Kate he loves her – something he hadn't been able to do since he first fell ill.
We're wishing Derek a speedy recovery and hoping he'll be back out of hospital in no time.
