Katy Perry and her fiancé Orlando Bloom made a sober pact earlier this year and she has now shed some light on the reason why.
The ‘California Gurls’ singer, 38, told fans in March that she and her Pirates of the Caribbean star partner, 46, had been sober for five weeks already.
“I’ve been sober for five weeks today… I’ve been doing a pact with my partner and I want to quit,” the American Idol judge joked in an interview with People while at a cocktail event.

Thankfully, Perry has opened up further about the pact in another interview.
The mum-of-one said she regarded the sober challenge as ‘an opportunity to reset’.
In a new interview with People, Perry said: “We reset after President’s Day and it was a great opportunity to just let my body bounce back a little bit.

“I’ve had a pretty good relationship with just finding balance.”
Explaining that she’s ‘not really drinking on weeknights, she said she will ‘indulge a little bit’ at the weekend.
“We did this because he’s [Bloom] shooting a movie in London right now that’s taking every ounce of his focus, and so I wanted that opportunity to be supportive," Perry added.
"It's really hard to do anything, whether that's doing a cleanse or a reset, unless your partner's doing it. So, doing it together makes it so much easier."

Perry clarified that she doesn’t ‘really identify with any labels as far as sober or whatever’.
She explained: “I love to have my reset moments, especially being 38, balancing the intensity of my career and having a toddler who loves to run."
Perry shares her two-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove, with Bloom.

In between being a world famous pop icon and a judge on American Idol, Perry even has her own line of non-alcoholic aperitifs line, named De Soi, which she launched alongside her business partner Morgan McLachlan last year.
The drinks are designed to offer the same sophistication as a glass of wine but with none of the downfalls. The beverages are also made with natural adaptogens for an added health boost.
Speaking to Entrepreneur last August, Perry explained: "It's a great alternative, especially for us, who are the matriarchs in our family.
"Our Monday through Thursdays are intense sometimes, and [we're] juggling a lot. So it's nice to have an alternative but not lose out on that sensual experience."
