Celebrity romances are often fated to not last a very long time - which is perhaps what Katy Perry might have been thinking about when she was apparently approached by Niall Horan for 'her number'.
The 'Teenage Dream' singer claimed that she had to repeatedly turned down the former One Direction member, citing their nine year age difference as a primary concern.

In a radio interview, Perry quipped: "'I see him around all the time, he's always trying to like get my number to like maybe flirt with me but I'm like 'I could babysit you I'm like your mum!"
But when Perry's comments were put to him, Horan seemingly saw the funny side of it.
Speaking to the Australian show The Project in 2017, he said: "Katy, please stop being mean to me.
"I mean she's finding any excuse to patronise me and go round spreading rumours about me.

"She's talking like she's about 55 years older than me, she's not that much older than me!" the 'Little Things' singer said.
He then added that he 'just wanted to be her friend'.
Funnily enough, Perry played a role in his rise to fame, as she was sitting on the panel of The X Factor when the then-unknown Horan took to the stage in 2010.
Perry, who has been a judge on American Idol since 2018, was filling in for regular judge Dannii Minogue when she first met the musician in 2010.

Perry's comments about Horan may have been taken on the chin, but her comments elsewhere have led to some hurt feelings.
Mum Sara Beth Liebe, was one person who wasn't so keen on Perry's sense of humour.
Liebe impressed judges with her powerful voice when she performed for the 'Fireworks' singer and fellow judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan.

However, it was a quip from Perry that stuck with her.
When she told the judges that she was a single mother of three, Perry stood up out of her seat, leading Liebe to joke: "If Katy lays on the table, I think I’m going to pass out."
The popstar then shot back: "Honey, you been laying on the table too much."

Talking about the joke later, Liebe said: "At the start of my audition, before I sang, I mentioned that I had three children and was a young mother and Katy Perry made a joke - that wasn’t super kind.
"I don’t really have too much to say on my feelings about it because I feel like it’s probably pretty self-explanatory."
Liebe has since quit the show, despite making it through auditions.
She didn't cite her tension with Perry as a reason, instead saying that she wanted to 'get home to her babies'.
