Kelly Rowland has told the crowd at the American Music Awards to ‘chill out’ following Chris Brown’s win at the award show.
The 33-year-old ‘Kiss Kiss’ singer was awarded the Favourite Male R&B Artist at the AMAs when the audience began to ‘boo’ the star.
On Sunday night, Rowland, 41, accepted the award on Brown’s behalf and took to the defence of the winning musician before attempting to calm the onlookers down.

During her speech, Rowland told the unhappy viewers: “Excuse me, chill out,” whilst holding a finger up in a pausing gesture.
She continued on her speech on Brown’s behalf: "I want to tell Chris thank you so much for making great R&B music and I want to tell him, ‘thank you for being an incredible performer’.”
The Destiny’s Child star said: "I'll take this award, bring it to you. I love you. Congratulations."
Tyla has contacted a representative of Kelly Rowland and Chris Brown's representatives for a comment.

The ‘New Flame’ singer topped the likes of Brent Faiyaz, Giveon, Lucky Daye and The Weeknd to win the award at the event, but was not present at the award show to accept in person.
Brown has a tumultuous history, including being arrested multiple times for assault, as well as multiple rape accusations against the singer, which he has vehemently denied.
Brown was also found to have assaulted ex-girlfriend Rihanna.

Brown was eventually charged with battery after Rihanna was hospitalised, while the awful photos taken of Rihanna after she was assaulted were dubbed as a ‘devastating proof of abuse’.
In June 2009, Brown pleaded guilty to a felony and accepted a plea deal of five years probation. He was further ordered to attend one year of domestic violence counselling as well as six months of community service.
The judge also passed a five-year restraining order on Brown which meant he must remain 50 yards (45 metres) away from Rihanna, which went down to 10 yards (9 metres) at public events.
