Derry Girls and Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan has shared an important message on social media, urging her followers to stop commenting on her body.
The 35-year-old posted 'begged' her fans to stop sending her their opinions on her body and said she's a 'human being'.
Paired with a mirror selfie from her hotel room in New York City, Nicola wrote: "Hello! So just a thing- if you have an opinion about my body please, please don’t share it with me.
"Most people are being nice and not trying to be offensive but I am just one real life human being and it’s really hard to take the weight of thousands of opinions on how you look being sent directly to you every day."
She added: "If you have an opinion about me that’s ok, I understand I’m on TV and that people will have things to think and say but I beg you not to send it to me directly.
"Anyways here’s a pic of me in my hotel in NY about to go to SNL, it’s unrelated to this post but delighted with my hair in it."
The comments under Nicola's Instagram post have been turned off however some of her fans on Twitter shared messages of support and similarly urged people to avoid commenting on her body.
One Twitter user replied: "People need to stop thinking that they have a right to voice an opinion on somebody else’s body."
Another fan said: "This sickens me to read this. Why are people so mean? @nicolacoughlan you’re beautiful inside and out. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I have so much love for you. Keep being your beautiful self.."
And a third person wrote: "Never comment on someone else’s body. Even if you think you're being nice, just stfu."
While another supporter said: "We have your back!!!!"
