Stacey Dooley offered fans a sneak peek at her home renovations but some followers were left feeling worried after spotting her flooring.
The TV presenter shared the snap on her Instagram account, showing her new living room flooring. Some of the tiles have yet to be placed and the whole transformation is still in progress.
The picture shows a mixture of wooden floors and insulation pads. Her caption also hinted that the renovations have not been a straight forward job.
“Fine, fine, fine, fine thanks,” she wrote alongside the post.
Stacey's followers expressed their concerns in the comments.
One person wrote: "Bad floor fitting etiquette that is".
A second commenter added: "Someone's done a sh*t job of the insulation Stacey x"
Another follower explained why some fans were left feeling concerned: "Celotex should be fitted properly with no gaps … and use some foam in between if needed, otherwise what’s the point of insulation if cold getting through the gaps."
And someone else wrote: "Please stop making comments on the insulation, it’s better than nothing."
However Stacey's comment section was also filled with supportive comments.
"It’s going to look lovely when it’s done," said one follower.
"Going to be gorgeous when finished," wrote another.
A third fan shared: "Oooh I love a project."
It is unclear what point during the renovations Stacey's picture was taken.
Sylvia James, interior design expert from Homehow clarified that the ‘gaps’ in the picture are not actually gaps, they are the wooden joists of the floor.
She explained that a reason why fans may be concerned is because “laying the floor in this way may lead to the floor not being lined up correctly, causing gaps to be made, as the room is not a perfect square.”
James urges people to remember the image posted is still a work in progress, however. “It's important to note that no one is claiming that the work conducted is fully complete. In fact, along with the caption, it's clearly a simple progress shot.
“In the image, in between each Celotex is the floors wooden joist, leaving no choice but to lay the Celotex in this way. There is in fact no gaps. If the Celotex is tight to the wood, no draughts will be able to enter through the boards.”
Stacey and her partner, former Strictly Come Dancing professional Kevin Clifton, haven’t shared many snaps of their new home together.
The pair got together after they won the 2018 series of the BBC dance competition series.
The couple isolated together during lockdown in Stacey’s London flat. They eventually decided to move in together to a new property in 2020.
The 33-year-old posted the news on Instagram. “Feel so lucky and excited. I’ve never had my own front door or garden as an adult until now!”
We can’t wait to see the house once it’s complete!
