Stacey Solomon explains why she kept pregnancy secret for eight months

Stacey Solomon has revealed the surprising reason why she kept her latest pregnancy a 'secret' for eight months.

The singer-turned-media personality, 33, made the revelation during a fan Q&A on Instagram, where she explained that it was her most asked question about baby number five.

Stacey is currently eight months pregnant with her fifth child, but she only revealed that she was expecting again late last month (December 29).

The mum-of-four explained: "We really wanted it to ourselves for the beginning bit, but we missed the beginning bit if that makes sense.

"We didn't have to keep it a secret for 8 months because we didn't know for 8 months.

"My periods were irregular from breastfeeding, we were planning a wedding then getting married, and then just crazy life and it honestly didn't register."

This prompted fans to wonder if she only just discovered that she was pregnant well into her third trimester, and she went on to clarify that she did find out some time before this.

She said: "Just to clarify. We didn't just find out at 8 months.

"We found out, then waited that first few months you usually would have it to ourselves and now we are here."

Fans were shocked when she announced her pregnancy just four days ago, and then showed off pictures of her ample baby bump with her husband Joe Swash, 40.

Stacey revealed that her fifth pregnancy was very much a surprise as she didn't plan to have any more children.

Announcing the birth of her fifth child, who will be her third with Joe, she wrote on Instagram: "So grateful & can not believe I'm saying this… Another little pickle is on the way…

"A HUGE surprise, but one that we are so thankful for [sic] to the moon & back bub."

The media personality previously said last year that her youngest child, Rose, who was born just last year, would be her last.

She said: "We have to live within our means. We want to be the best parents we can.

"And when we were trying to have this baby, it wasn't the process we thought it would be, so we were just so grateful to even get pregnant.

"I don't want to push it anymore. This is enough."

However, Joe was very much of the 'never say never' mindset and he got his wish.

He told Fabulous magazine: "Having kids is addictive."

As well as Rose, one, the pair share a son, Rex, three, and Stacey has two older children from previous relationships, Leighton, 10 and Zachary, 14.
