Season two of Bridgerton is officially here and fans are already sinking their teeth into all the juicy drama and scandal that's been over a year in the making.
Viewers were over the moon in the opening moments of the new season when Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) used an Irish accent to disguise herself while getting Lady Whistledown's newsletters printed.
Watch the scene here:
Youngest of the Featherington family, Penelope tends to speak in a posh London accent, but to keep her alias of Lady Whistledown a secret, she opted for a cloak and an Irish accent.
Fans of Nicola Coughlan will know that the actress was born and raised in Ireland, so she likely didn't have to try very hard to perfect the Penelope's 'fake' accent.
Already hyped for the grand return of Bridgerton, fans were even more thrilled when they got to hear Nicola's natural accent flourish.
After beginning the new season, one fan tweeted: "Penelope with an accent what a bad b*tch give her her crownnnnn #bridgertonseason2."
A second raved: "Penelope's actress using her real accent as a disguise . Her mind >>> ".
A third viewer wrote: "THE IRISH ACCENT YES!", while a fourth gushed: "Penelope's Irish accent :clap:".
Another excited viewer added: "NICOLA'S ACCENT. OMG THAT'S HOT. LOOK AT PEN DRIVING A HARD BARGAIN AND STANDING UP FOR THE DELIVER BOYS WAGES! QUEEN."
Even those who haven't been able to start the new series yet can hardly contain their excitement - especially after Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne), shared a photo of the Bridgerton family, featuring a new addition.
This certainly isn't the first time we've seen Simon and Daphne's baby. In the final episode of season one we see the child's birth, but this is the first time we're seeing the child with the rest of the Bridgerton clan.
Season two of Bridgerton is available to watch now on Netflix.
