Disney's critically acclaimed film Encanto took home the award for Best Animated Feature Film at the 2022 Oscars.
Filmmakers Jared Bush, Byron Howard, Yvett Merino and Clark Spencer accepted the award and thanked the cast of the film as well as the country of Colombia for serving as inspiration.
Merino tearfully told the audience: "I am so proud to be a part of a film that puts beautiful, diverse characters in front and centre and that people everywhere are seeing themselves in the film."

A performance of the rousing ballad 'Dos Oruguitas' by Sebastián Yatra was introduced by Encanto star Stephanie Beatriz, who voiced Mirabel.
The award was presented by Lily James, Halle Bailey and Naomi Scott who are known for their roles as Cinderella, Ariel and Princess Jasmine respectively. Bailey will make her on-screen debut in the upcoming live action retelling of The Little Mermaid.
Disney had three films in the category, including the Pixar movie Luca and Raya and the Last Dragon.
Other nominees included Flee and The Mitchells vs. the Machines.
Encanto follows the Madrigal family, who reside in a gorgeous house called Casa Madrigal.
Each Madrigal child has been gifted with a magical power, except for Mirabel who searches for her missing uncle Bruno to find out why she hasn't received a gift.
The Madrigals are gifted with powers after the tragic death of their patriarch Pedro, who died protecting his family after their village was attacked.
Encanto became a huge success after it arrived on Disney+ over the Christmas holidays, and quickly became one of the highest grossing films of the season.
Its chart-topping song 'We Don't Talk About Bruno' did so well that it managed to surpass Frozen's Let It Go as Disney's highest-charting song on the UK singles chart and the US Billboard Hot 100. This is something we thought we would never see.
Encanto is available to stream now on Disney+
