A brand new series will arrive on Crime+Investigation tomorrow, delving into the drama, emotion and suspense of America's most harrowing and disturbing murder trials.

And if you're a fan of true crime, it's definitely worth adding to the watch list.

Murder Masterminds combines gripping interviews and footage from police on the scene, forensic experts, witnesses and in some cases, the defendants themselves.

Moving onto the trial, with cameras inside the courtroom, viewers will see first hand the backstory behind what led to each crime, how the case unfolds and eventually the final verdict.

The first episode focuses on the case of former police officer Taylor Wright, whose body was discovered buried on a remote Pensacola farm in 2017. She had been shot in the back of the head.

Police had a number of suspects - her ex husband, from whom Taylor stole $100,000 (£80,000), her live-in girlfriend Casandra, her best friend Ashley McArthur - a former crime scene technician - and Ashley's husband, also a former police officer.

The property where Taylor's body was found was owned by Ashley's family. Taylor had been going through divorce proceedings before her murder, and withdrew the $100,000 from her and her husband's joint bank account. She had entrusted Ashley with $32,000 (£25,000) for safe keeping.

On 8th September that year, Taylor and Ashley had met so Taylor could get her money back. She had been in communication with her girlfriend Cassandra up until around 11am.

Cassandra continued to try to communicate with her Taylor with no success until 7.58pm, when she received a text from Taylor, stating that she needed time to think and get her life on track.

Just 10 days later, Ashley met with a police detective, explaining she had picked Taylor up on the 8th September and that they had driven to various locations before going back to Ashley's family's property to do some horse riding.

The series will focus on a different case each week (

They then travelled back to Ashley's home, Ashley went inside and when she came out, Taylor was gone.

During the investigation, Ashley's bank transfers and phone records were obtained. They showed that on 16th August, Ashley had deposited a check of $34,000 in Taylor's name into her personal account and that the money had since been spent.

Viewers will watch as Ashley is convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to life in prison. You can watch the first episode of Murder Masterminds on Tuesday 7th July on Crime+Investigation, with a new episode dropping each week.
