Oscar winning actress Angelina Jolie has opened up about her personal life in a revealing new interview, giving fans an insight into her romantic life.

The 49-year-old star, who was married to actor Brad Pitt between 2014 - 2019, hasn't been involved in any high profile romances since her divorce.

The duo, dubbed 'Brangelina' by the press, split after Jolie filed for divorce citing irreconcilable differences.

They are now embroiled in a feud marked by Jolie's allegations that Pitt physically and verbally abused her and their children on a flight, and are involved in a court battle regarding their $350million vineyard.

Jolie sold her stake in the French vineyard to Russian billionaire Yuri Shefler in 2021, which as per the Sun 'allegedly breached an agreement that she would offer Pitt first refusal and not sell without his consent.'

In a new interview with the Sun, Jolie shed some light on her alone time.

Jolie, who stars in psychological drama Maria, a biopic of opera singer Maria Callas' life available to watch on Netflix, said: “I have my children I love but as an adult I’m often alone. I find myself identifying with the solitude and loneliness she has.

“I also haven’t quite figured out how to live life in a way where I’m on my own.

“Maybe a lot of artists feel that we’re in an open space as a person.

“We don’t quite settle. So it leaves us in a strange way sometimes.”

Maria marks Jolie's return to film after more than three years and her performance is being tipped for numerous award wins.

Recently, Jolie has spoken out about her feelings about her career as well as her relationship status.

In an interview with Radio Times, Jolie shared what led her to take the role of Callas, admitting: “It was a challenge. As artists you want to take on something that you are afraid of, that you’re not sure you can do.”

She also revealed that she was driven by a passion to working with the film's director, Pablo Larraín, adding: “My first step in was Pablo,” she says. “I’ve always wanted to work with him.”

Larraín himself then spoke about the way he felt about the iconic figure Callas, saying: "Callas achieved such a level of beauty and perfection in what she did. She changed opera and had a big influence in the history of fashion and yet really we know very little about her.”

Jolie was then asked whether she believes today's celebrities are more 'protected' now than they were in past years.

Jolie responded: “I don’t know if it’s protected, or if it’s turned into something cheaper.

"When you think about the old interviews there was a fuller conversation that was able to be had. I watched Callas’s really old interviews and they spent hours talking to her about her craft. Nobody’s ever done that for me. She was taken seriously.”

"I haven’t allowed myself to just enjoy [being an artist], because things become about celebrity or business.

"It is a gift to be allowed to live a life as an artist, and this role has helped make me rediscover art and being an artist. I am rediscovering that through Maria.”
