Ariana Grande fans furious as she makes embarrassing mistake half-way through interview

Ariana Grande fans furious as she makes embarrassing mistake half-way through interview

Ariana Grande was taking part in a Q&A in Los Angeles to promote the new Wicked movie

Ariana Grande fans have been left in shock after she made a blunder halfway through an interview this week.

The singer, 31, was taking part in a Q&A in Los Angeles to promote her upcoming movie, the new Wicked adaptation, over the weekend.

But fans were not impressed when she was asked to discuss her first acting role.

Speaking about how her Netflix movie, Don't Look Up, was her first gig, she said: "I think it might have been Don't Look Up. It was recently."

The interviewer then added: "But you had been performing for a while, so that was...," to which Ariana explained: "That was my first time in a film."

Moments later, Ariana realised she'd essentially forgotten about the six years she spent working on Nickelodeon shows including Victorious and Sam & Cat.

It seems director Jon M. Chu had jogged Ariana's memory, after explaining he'd been 'an extra on Secret World of Alex Mack on Nickelodeon'.

Moments later, Ariana looked mortified and turned to her Wicked co-star Cynthis Erivo, who said: "She forgot about Nickelodeon. Six years of life."

"I forgot six years of my life. Oh God, sorry about that," said Ariana.

"I don't remember anything. It's a blur."

TikTokers were horrified at the mistake, with one person commenting: "Howw did Ariana forget she was in the Screen Actors Guild after being on Nickelodeon for years?!"

While another said: "This is so sad... I'm not a fan but this one made my heart hurt. I think she truly blocked it out."

And a third added: "How could you Ari!"

Others were quick to defend the singer, though, with many admitting they'd struggle to remember so long ago, while others said she was probably thinking about movies, rather than TV.

After all, Don't Look Up, was only released in 2021.

"I get it. I don’t remember like 95% percent of my childhood," said one.

While another added: "I mean Nickelodeon isn’t film, it’s television. Weren’t they talking about movies?"

And a third said: "Valid I also forget she was in Nickelodeon and I LOVED her shows, Cat was my fav ever I used her as a character in every story I wrote in elementary school."

And a fourth added: "It’s crazy how she didn’t even realize it! What if Jon M Chu never said Nickelodeon?!"

Wicked will hit UK cinemas on 22 November.
