Cameron Diaz has revealed the shocking reason she stopped acting for almost 10 years as she nears a long-awaited career comeback.
The 52-year-old Hollywood A-lister holds a portfolio filled to the brim with films that have grossed over $3 billion (roughly £2.25bn) in the US box office.
She has starred in a wide array of genres, and held leading parts in The Holiday, Bad Teacher, Charlie's Angeles, My Sister's Keeper, and many more.

Diaz has also been busy raising a family, having revealed a heartwarming admission earlier this year about her experience of motherhood alongside her husband Benji Madden, with whom she recently welcomed her second child.
“We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our son, Cardinal Madden,” they wrote in a joint post last year.
“He is awesome and we are all so happy he is here! For the kids' safety and privacy we won’t be posting any pictures - but he’s really cute/ We are feeling so blessed and grateful."
But, now after a 10-year hiatus from screens, it seems Diaz is ready to return to the spotlight with a brand new Netflix film.

Starring alongside Jamie Foxx in the jam-packed flick, aptly titled Back in Action, the actress will start her comeback with the film's release on 15 November.
Preview images from the streamer have given us a taste of what to expect, showing the co-stars had a fair amount of action on their hands.
In fact, Jamie Foxx previously revealed he nearly lost his life during the project's production after suffering a 'medical complication'.

Thankfully, however, he has fortunately since re-gained his health, but implied in a speech at a Critics Choice Association event that things had been touch and go at one point.
“It’s crazy, I couldn’t do that six months ago,” he said after walking on stage.
“I cherish every single minute now - it’s different. I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy because it’s tough when it’s almost over… when you see the tunnel. I saw the tunnel - I didn’t see the light.”
According to the Academy Award winner, him and Diaz are friends on and off the screen ever since their roles in Any Given Sunday and Annie.

But after starring as Miss Hannigan in the musical, Diaz took a step back from her life in the public eye.
She unpacked this decision on Kevin Hart's Hart to Heart series.
Diaz said: "When you do something at a really high level for a long period of time, when you're the person that is delivering one thing, you're the person on the screen, all parts of you that isn't that has to sort of be handed off to other people.
"For my personal, spiritual self, I was realising that that one part of me that functioned at a high level wasn't enough.

"I just looked around and there were so many part of my life that I wasn't touching and that I wasn't managing, and I couldn't really manage, because everything was so massive."
Her surprise comeback will see her dragged 'back into the world of espionage', according to the official synopsis.
"Years after giving up their life as CIA spies to start a family, Emily and Matt find their cover is blown", the explanation reads.
It would not be a Hollywood comeback after nearly a decade without a variety of projects.
In addition to the action flick, Diaz has also taken on a role in a crime drama directed by Jonah Hill.
Diaz has also returned for Shrek 5, having previously voiced Princess Fiona in a number of the former instalments.
