Courtney Love’s official exodus from the United States is almost complete as the music icon has revealed she’s in the process of applying for UK citizenship.
60-year-old Love, who in 2019 relocated from Los Angeles during US President Donald Trump’s first term in office, currently resides in a townhouse in the capital with her Pomeranians, Bell and Shijo Kingo.
Born in California, the Hole icon spent her youth between Oregon, and New Zealand before enjoying a stint in Dublin.

While studying at Trinity College, she met Teardrop Explodes’ Julian Cope, who allowed her to move into his Liverpool home with future bandmate Robin Barbur and late Echo & the Bunnymen drummer Pete de Freitas.
Years after exiting the UK and eventually setting up shop in Los Angeles, Love remarked that she ‘knew’ she was always going to end up in London.
“I know what neighbourhood I’m going to end up in, and I know that I want to be on the Thames,” she said in 2017.

“I subscribe to this magazine called Country Life, which is just real-estate p**n and fox hunting. It’s amazing.”
Six years after upping sticks, the ‘Celebrity Skin’ star has revealed she’s on her way to becoming a certified British citizen.
Speaking at a recent event hosted by the Royal Geographical Society in London, Kurt Cobain’s widow said: “I’m really glad I’m here,” as per the Daily Mail.
“It’s so great to live here. I’m finally getting my British citizenship in six months. I get to be a citizen - I’m applying, man! Can’t get rid of me!”

Love, who is just one of the famous faces to flee the US following the election and subsequent second coming of 78-year-old Trump, went on to scathingly address the Republican administration.
“It’s like emperor-core, like [they’re] wearing million-dollar watches,” she remarked.
“Emperor-core is going on at Mar-a-Lago. It’s frightening now. It’s like cyanide now.”

Love is joined by the likes of Ellen DeGeneres and wife Portia de Rossi, who both fled the United States.
It was previously reported that the pair had moved to the idyllic Cotswolds and that they would probably ‘never’ return to the US.
Other celebs who have left the country for political reasons include Rosie O’Donnell, who has relocated to Ireland, and Game of Thrones’ Sophie Turner.
In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar in October 2024, Turner said she struggled living in the US, adding: "The gun violence, Roe v Wade being overturned... Everything just kind of piled on.
