Many Ellen DeGeneres fans are only now realising that the talk-show host issued a warning about her plans to flea the States several months before she actually moved to the UK.

Earlier this month, a source close to Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi informed press that the couple - who married in 2008 - had put their colossal Los Angeles mansion on the market and fled America for good.
Despite not explicitly referencing the recent presidential re-election - which saw right-wing Republican candidate Donald Trump defeat Democrat Kamala Harris - the source said the LGBTQ+ pair would 'never return' until their home-country stabilises politically.
In the days the followed speculation that Ellen and her partner had settled in the UK, the pair were papped enjoying a bite to eat in British TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson's Cotswolds pub, where the former Finding Nemo voice actress could be seen with a brand new look.
Ellen is yet to publicly acknowledge their departure, though she did hint at a change of scenery earlier this year as part of a one-off comedy show she performed for Netflix.

Titled For Your Approval, though the show veered away from the political, it heard the 66-year-old take aim at toxicity in Hollywood.

In July 2020, 10 former employees of The Ellen DeGeneres Show accused DeGeneres of creating a 'toxic' atmosphere on set, which included 'racism, fear, and intimidation.'

This included her allegedly failing to act upon suggestions of executives sexually harassing female employees, 'making racist micro-aggressions' to or about employees of colour, firing people for using medical and bereavement leave, and replacing her crew with non-union workers during the Coronavirus pandemic.
In September 2020, Ellen made an onscreen apology to viewers, saying: "I learned that things happened here that should never have happened. I know that I’m in a position of privilege and power, and I realize that with that comes responsibility, and I take responsibility for what happens at my show."
In a stand-up comedy routine, the 66-year-old talk show host said: "Let me catch you up on what’s been going on with me since you last saw me. I got chickens. Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean.”
She later added: "This is the last time you’re going to see me. After my Netflix special, I’m done.”

Ellen then added: "Oh yeah, and I got kicked out of show business for being mean. Next time, I’ll be kicked out for being old. Old, gay and mean, the triple crown."
During the stand up routine, Ellen also reportedly revealed how her views of fame had changed since the beginning of her career.
"I used to say, 'I don’t care what people say about me'. Now I realise I said that during the height of my popularity," Ellen said before resolving: "I am many things, but I am not mean."

Ellen's since opened up further about her public reception following the release of the Netflix special, saying: "When you’re a public figure, you’re open to everyone’s interpretation.
"And I’m sure you’ve heard the saying that, 'What other people think of me is none of my business'. Because people will say all kinds of things and you have no control over that.
"But you know the truth and that’s all that matters."
For Your Approval is now streaming on Netflix.
