Emma Stone fans have theory about why she just debuted drastic new appearance

Emma Stone fans have theory about why she just debuted drastic new appearance

Some fans have recalled a moment from last year which could explain Emma Stone's new look

Emma Stone fans think they've worked out why the actress debuted her new look at this year's Golden Globes Awards.

Emma, 36, took to the red carpet with a brand new look on Sunday evening (5 January) surprising fans by debuting a short, pixie hair cut.

While the shorter style really suits the La La Land actress, some fans think there's more to it.

In fact, many eagle-eyed followers have recalled a moment from October 2024, which could explain everything.

This year, Emma was nominated for Best Actress in a Drama for her work on The Curse.

But it's a different role that has had people talking this week.

According to fans, Emma's new look could be to do with her role in the upcoming Yorgos Lanthimos movie, Bugonia, set to be released later this year.

Back in October, fans were convinced that Emma had shaved her head after she made a public appearance in what many people believed was a wig.

Emma attended the 2024 New York Film Festival where she was reportedly seen adjusting the hair piece after hugging Kieran Culkin’s wife, Jazz Charton.

Meanwhile, the following day, she was seen out and about in New York City wearing a beanie hat.

At the time, many believed Emma had shaved her head for the movie, with one calling it 'next level commitment'.

Emma's new movie tells the story of two conspiracy theory-obsessed men who kidnap the CEO of a major company after being convinced that she's an alien set on destroying the planet.

It's actually a remake of a 2003 Korean movie, Save the Green Planet! and is scheduled to arrive in cinemas in November 2025.

Bugonia will be the fourth movie Emma has made with Lanthimos, with previous titles including The Favourite, Poor Things and Kinds of Kindness.

“We have a great relationship,” Lanthimos previously said. “We just love working together.”

Last year, Emma took home the award for Best Female Actor at the 2024 Golden Globes, for her role as Bella Baxter in the Lanthimos movie, Poor Things.

“I just fell in love with Bella,” Emma said while walking the red carpet.

"And I loved working with Yorgos on The Favourite, and we talked about [Poor Things] right after."

Meanwhile, in her acceptance speech, she paid tribute to Lanthimos, telling him: “I will forever be grateful that we met."
