Freddie Brazier bravely opens up on difficulties he faced as a child amid mum Jade Goody's death

Freddie Brazier is currently starring on Celebrity Race Across the World alongside his dad, Jeff

Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier's son Freddie has given an emotional admission during a recent episode of Celebrity Race Across the World.

The 20-year-old, who is competing on the BBC show with his dad Jeff, began to reflect on some of his childhood difficulties after making an attempt to chop some wood.

Despite finding it difficult, his dad noted how heartwarming it was to watch him stick at a tough task, and that it was proof he had grown.

Jeff said: "Freddie's strengths are absolutely numerous but he's the last person to see them himself.

"A lot of the time I think he sees himself as being inadequate, inferior, not enough."

Freddie himself then opened up, divulging: "I was that kid in class that wasn't really the same.

"I struggled. My concentration wasn't the best. At ten I got diagnosed with ADHD.

"I didn't mean to misbehave. I didn't really know how to cope with everything that was going on.

"I don't think I was bad, but I wasn't good."

Freddie lost his mum, Jade, when he was just four years old.

Jade, a reality TV star who shot to fame after starring on Big Brother, died aged 27 as a result of a shock cervical cancer diagnosis in 2009.

The loss has resulted in Freddie, and his brother, Bobby, being raised solely by Jeff.

Sources have claimed to The Mail that Freddie and Jeff have suffered from a loving but strained relationship, so Celebrity Race Across the World has been the perfect chance to bond.

According to the source, Freddie will often leave the family home to stay with his nan.

The unnamed source said: "Freddie will often turn up on the doorstep, sometimes very unhappy, and wanting to see his nan.

"He and Jeff often argue, the rows can be bad, things go really, really pear shaped between them and that’s it, he leaves.

“While Jackiey has her issues - and will be the first to admit she isn’t the most perfect or archetypal grandmother - he can share his feelings with her which is something he can’t do at Jeff’s.

“He has had a terribly sad life but he feels he can’t talk about it.”

Reflecting on the loss of Jade, the source added: "Jeff took the boys in when Jade died, he took them away from the limelight and did his best to bring them up amid such difficult circumstances but sadly Freddie just can’t see eye to eye with him."

The emotional Celebrity Race Across the World scenes showed Jeff consoling his son and reassuring him that he will go on to achieve great things in life - so it seems the bonding exercise is working.
