Adele dedicates Grammy award to son in sweet acceptance speech

Angelo must be so proud of his mum!

Adele has dedicated her most recent Grammy Award win to her son, and fans are loving the heartwarming speech.

The 34-year-old singer won the award for Best Pop Solo Performance for 'Easy on Me' at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles tonight and she gave her 10-year-old son Angelo a very special shoutout.

After taking to the stage to accept the award, the star told the audience: “Thank you! I really was just looking forward to coming tonight. I just wanna dedicate this to my son Angelo.”

She added: “Just to my son, I wrote this first verse in the shower when I was choosing to change my son's life and he’s been nothing but humble and gracious and loving to me the whole time.”

'Easy On Me' sees the mum-of-one explore the struggles and heartache of stepping away from a relationship.

There are also thought to be references to her divorce from husband Simon Konecki in 2019, which she also appears to have referenced in her acceptance speech.

In the song - which reached number one in the UK and US - Adele sings about how she and her partner were 'stuck' in their ways and how she tried 'hard' to make their relationship work, but at some point, she has to 'give up'.

“When we are both so deeply stuck in our ways / You can’t deny how hard I’ve tried / I’ve changed who I was to put you both first/ But now I givе up,” she croons.

Adele's 2021 album 30 is up for Album of the Year at this year's ceremony. Weeks before its release she discussed singing about her divorce in a cover interview with Vogue magazine.

"It just wasn’t… It just wasn’t right for me any more," she explained about the split. "I didn’t want to end up like a lot of other people I knew. I wasn’t miserable miserable, but I would have been miserable had I not put myself first."

While the Tottenham-born singer has mostly kept her son out of the spotlight, she has shared some adorable anecdotes about him in the past.

The star revealed that Angelo sounds just like her - Cockney accent and all - despite going to school in the US.

Speaking on The Graham Norton Show, Adele shared a rare insight into his life.

“Obviously the whole time I’ve been there [in America] he’s been there, and he goes to school with American kids and sounds like me," she revealed.

“I kind of correct him a lot as well, like, ‘that’s not how you say it,’ but yeah he does."

How adorable!
