Jenna Ortega has addressed the ‘ridiculous’ rumour that she is dating Johnny Depp.
Despite the 40-year age gap, it was claimed by celebrity gossip account, Deuxmoi, that the pair had been spotted stepping out together.
And the gossip mill has been going into overdrive regarding the actors after it was further speculated whether Depp, 60, would also be making an appearance in Tim Burton's sequel, Beetlejuice 2, which Ortega is confirmed to be starring in.
However, Ortega recently took to social media to address the rampant speculation and to shut down any further comments regarding her relationship with Depp.

Via her Instagram Stories, the Wednesday star wrote: “This is so ridiculous I can’t even laugh I have never met or worked with Johnny Depp in my life.
"Please stop spreading lies and leave us alone.”
A representative of Depp has also further dispelled any dating rumours.

In a statement to NME, the spokesperson for the Edward Scissorhands actor said: “Mr. Depp has no personal or professional relationship with Ms. Ortega whatsoever. He has never met her or spoken to her.
“He is not involved in any projects with her, nor does he intend to be.
"He is appalled by these baseless and malicious rumours that are intended to harm his reputation and career.”
Well, it seems as if both statements can finally see social media users putting the bizarre dating rumours to bed, as well as the possibility of seeing Depp in the upcoming Beetlejuice sequel.

The statement from both parties comes after Ortega got candid with Elle Fanning on Variety's Actors-on-Actors regarding the toxicity she faces from online trolls.
She said: “Social media, what it does to anyone our age, it’s such a comparing game.
“It influenced bandwagon mentality. It’s very manipulative.”

Ortega said that while she wants channel her 'deadpan' humour online, she has to think twice about what she shares online because of trolls.
She also said that since the release of Wednesday, she has been subjected to more trolling than ever before.
"They see your vulnerability and twist it in a way that you don’t always expect.” the X star continued before breaking down into tears.
"It’s so strange. Sorry, I didn’t mean to do this. It’s such a hard thing to balance.

“How do you be honest without jeopardising your own health and safety? It’s very easy to feel almost out of control.”
