People in stitches after hearing what police reportedly said to Justin Timberlake when arresting him

Justin Timberlake has been charged with one count of driving while intoxicated

People can’t believe what the police allegedly said to Justin Timberlake, after arresting him for driving while intoxicated.

Pop-sensation Justin Timberlake was arrested on Tuesday, after police pulled him over in the Hamptons.

He was charged on the same day, but people are having a giggle at what the police reportedly said to him upon the arrest.

According to a statement seen by the PA news agency, cops pulled him over in a 2025 BMW for driving through a stop sign in Sag Harbor, an affluent village in the Hamptons, and failing to stay within the lines on the road.

When officers stopped him, they described his eyes as ‘bloodshot and glassy’, and had a ‘strong odour of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath’.

According to court documents, Timberlake’s speech was slowed, and he claimed only had ‘one martini’ with friends.

The 43-year-old was set to embark on a global tour of his sixth album, Everything I Thought It Was.

But to people’s delight, police seemed to be completely unaware of who he was.

Sources told Page Six that the cops were allegedly ‘so young’ that they ‘didn’t even know’ who the 10-time Grammy winner was.

Insiders have said they didn’t recognise him or know the name.

It has been reported that Timberlake told officers that his arrest would ‘ruin the tour’.

To which they replied, ‘what tour?’.

Timberlake was scheduled to perform two shows in Chicago this week, followed by a show in New York’s Madison Square Garden next Tuesday.

Timberlake is married to actor Jessica Biel, and the couple share two children.

Despite being released without bail, in the state of New York, penalties for charges relating to driving while intoxicated can be varied.

They can include up to a year in jail, a $1000 (£786) fine, and the suspension of a driver’s licence for at least six months.

The singer has currently been charged with one count of DWI and two traffic violations, and is due in court on 26 July.

Tyla has contacted a representative for Justin Timberlake for a comment.

The popstar has never been far from controversy, after having to publicly apologise to his wife after being pictured holding hands with his Palmers co-star Alisha Wainwright.

In the apology, he said: “I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family I feel it is important to address recent rumours that are hurting the people I love.

“A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgement – but let me be clear – nothing happened between me and my co-star.”
