The MTV VMAs left fans shocked after Orlando Bloom introduced his fiancée Katy Perry by her real name on stage.
After a world-class performance from the singer who had just performed a 10-minute medley of her classics, which included 'Dark Horse' and 'E.T.', she rushed to the stage to be handed this year’s Video Vanguard Award.
After decades of top hits and party bops, Perry certainly deserved the praise.

But what people probably didn’t expect was for her long-time beau to drop her real name so casually, instead of saying her stage name.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star began by saying: "Give it up for our newest Video Vanguard, Katheryn Hudson.”
Then, he quickly added ‘Katy Perry’ as he stood on stage at New York's UBS Arena.

The actor then went on to express his love for her, and made the distinction between the pop star Katy Perry, and his fiancée and mother of his daughter.
Bloom said: "You fell in love with her as Katy Perry, I fell in love with her as Katheryn Hudson.
"You know her as a global superstar who brings love, light and her unique sense of humour into every song she writes and every music video she creates.
"I know her as a mother, as a partner who brings that same sense of love and joy to our family."

The 47-year-old added: "She loves with her whole heart and it’s kind of irresistible. Congratulations on this honour baby, I’m so proud of you."
Well, after that heartfelt announcement, fans online went wild.
It was such a lovely speech that people couldn’t help but be touched by it, even though they were shocked to learn that her name isn’t actually KP.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, fans come out in droves to comment on his name drop.
One person wrote: “KATY PERRY ISN'T HER REAL NAME WHAT.”
Another said: “Guys I didn’t know Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry were married I was so confused on why he was calling her her real name.”
Someone else commented: “So I’m today years old when I learned that Katy Perry’s real name is not Katy Perry… is Taylor the only artist who goes by her real name.”

Anyway, after the shock wore off and people realised that her name was different, the 39-year-old accepted the award in a way that only she could pull off.
She joked to the crowd: "Thank you, I did that all on my first day of my period, can you believe it?
"Thank you so much to MTV for believing in my weirdness from day one. There are so many things that have to align to have a long and successful career as an artist. There are no decades-long accidents."
After thanking everyone in her production and team, she went on to shoutout her fans and her family.
She said: "My Katy Cats, you stood by me for a lifetime and the LGBTQ community who I recognise I would not be here without.
"You showed me that you can be both kind and snatched. Thank you to Orlando for keeping me grounded, celebrated and doing the dishes. And lastly, for my Daisy, the only flower I'll ever need."
