Kourtney Kardashian opens up about ‘terrifying’ emergency surgery that saved her baby’s life

Kourtney Kardashian opens up about ‘terrifying’ emergency surgery that saved her baby’s life

The Kardashians star talked about how the situation impacted her

Kourtney Kardashian is expected to give birth any day now but has clearly faced some difficulties with her pregnancy along the journey.

The Kardashians star, 44, and Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker, 47, first tied the knot back in 2022 and announced the pregnancy news in June.

Kourtney, who is now nearing the end of her pregnancy and expecting a baby boy, has opened up the 'terrifying' emergency surgery she underwent that saved her baby’s life.

Kourtney is already a mama to three children from her previous relationship with ex-boyfriend Scott Disick, Mason, 13, Penelope 11 and Reign 8.

Travis also has children from his past relationship with Shanna Moakler; 20-year-old Landon and Alabama, 17.

He is also the stepfather to Moakler's daughter with her ex-husband Oscar De La Hoya, 24-year-old Atiana De La Hoya.

The yet-to-be-born tot will be the first child she and Travis share together, but Kourntey's fourth child in total.

Opening up about how she now falls into the category of a geriatric pregnancy, the reality TV star told Vogue: "That word is just so wild. But my doctors are so cautious and I’ve had so many more restrictions than my other pregnancies.

"The first trimester was no working out, no flying on airplanes, no sex. Then the second trimester, I could do anything. Now, I am back to all the restrictions."

The 'restrictions' are, in part, due to the fact the expecting mother and her unborn child were rushed to emergency surgery to save the baby's life last month.

"That experience opened my eyes to a whole new world of pregnancy that I didn’t know about in the past," she said. "It was terrifying.

"After, I learned that insurance typically only covers two ultrasounds when you’re pregnant, I had no idea. I’ve always been lucky enough to do more than what insurance covers, and it’s one of those ultrasounds that saved my baby’s life."

Kourtney was rushed to hospital to undergo 'urgent fetal surgery' last month.

At the time, she took to Instagram to explain that she had to undergo 'urgent fetal surgery'.

She wrote: "I will be forever grateful to my incredible doctors for saving our baby’s life. I am eternally grateful to my husband who rushed to my side from tour to be with me in the hospital and take care of me afterwards, my rock. And to my mom, thank you for holding my hand through this.

"As someone who has had three really easy pregnancies in the past, I wasn’t prepared for the fear of rushing into urgent fetal surgery. I don’t think anyone who hasn’t been through a similar situation can begin to understand that feeling of fear. I have a whole new understanding and respect for the mamas who have had to fight for their babies while pregnant.

"Praise be to God. Walking out of the hospital with my baby boy in my tummy and safe was the truest blessing."

The Poosh founder has previously hit back at people criticising her for having a baby at the age she is.

Speaking to Vanity Fair Italia this week, Kourtney said: "Those comments don’t affect me. I just say: how could you question God’s plan?

"Because that’s how I see this pregnancy, which came when both Travis and I weren’t even thinking about it anymore and a year after we stopped IVF."
