British singer Lewis Capaldi has surprised his adoring fans with his first performance in years at Glastonbury's Pyramid Stage earlier this afternoon (27 June).
During the iconic set, he took some time to thank those in attendance for their continued support.
Capaldi told the Glasto crowd: "I'm not going to say much up here today because if I do, I think I'll probably start crying, but it's just amazing to be here with you all and I can't thank you all enough for coming out and coming and seeing me."
"Second time's a charm on this one everybody. We're gonna do this, just a short set today but I just wanted to come and kind of finish what I couldn't finish the first time around on this stage."

He added: "I want to thank everybody who's asking me for giving me the opportunity to do so. Also this was like the worst kept f**king secret so I don't know who's been f**king telling people."
Following chatter of the 'Someone You Loved' star's 'secret slot', which was scheduled to take place just before Alanis Morissette's performance, festival-goers were beyond thrilled to find out for themselves that the rumours were true.
"Lewis Capaldi what a boy!" beamed one fan while a second cheered: "Fair play to Lewis Capaldi, he’s sounding great!"

"Lewis Capaldi is f*cking BACK!!!!!" quipped a fourth and another congratulated: "Lewis Capaldi is an absolute trooper!"
And a final fan commended: "The crowd for Lewis Capaldi is absolutely mental. Takes some balls to get back and perform in front of that many people after what he’s been through."
While it's clear fans all across the globe are utterly delighted to see the 28-year-old Scotland-hailing musician take to the stage after a two-year hiatus, they'll no doubt remember what prompted him to 'take a break' from the 'biz in the first place.

Back in June 2023, Capaldi called his Glastonbury set a 's***show' as the crowd filled in the lyrics because he struggled due to losing his voice, which subsequently triggered an episode of his Tourette's syndrome.
After performing 'Bruises', Capaldi said he was having voice issues, telling the crowd: "I’m going to be honest everybody but I’m starting to lose my voice up here, but we’re going to keep going and we’re going to go until the end.
"I just need you all to sing with me as loud as you can if that’s okay?"

Before his final song, Capaldi announced to the crowd: "I recently took three weeks off just because I’ve been nonstopthe past year and I wanted to take a wee break from my head for my mental health.

"I wanted to come back and do Glastonbury because it’s obviously so incredible so I just want to thank you all for coming out.
"I was scared but you’ve really made me feel at ease so thank you very much for that."

He then posted three lyric reels in January 2024 sharing new music but hadn't posted since then - until today (27 June).
The Brit Award winner surprised fans by releasing brand new music on his official Instagram page.
Sharing what appears to be a music video for an new track titled 'Survive' - which consisted of clips of his last Glastonbury performance, as well as footage of him as a child - Capaldi captioned the clip: "It’s been a while…"
Needless to say, fans were all in agreement when it came to their reactions to Capaldi's surprise social media statement, which was, unanimously, thank goodness he's back!
