Liam Hemsworth ‘hated’ kissing best friend Jennifer Lawrence after she made a point of eating ‘disgusting’ foods

Liam Hemsworth ‘hated’ kissing best friend Jennifer Lawrence after she made a point of eating ‘disgusting’ foods

Hunger Games stars Liam Hemsworth and Jennifer Lawrence have beef over her kissing pranks

Kissing scenes really matter in films as they display so much emotion, but if you thought Liam Hemsworth was feeling anything but awkward when kissing Jennifer Lawrence, you’d be surprised.

The two long-time pals were co-stars for the Hunger Games movies and as they were playing friends on screen, there had to be a level of closeness between the two.

But if you’ve watched the films or read the books, you’ll know that Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen and Hemsworth’s Gale start to get a little steamy.

The friends who secretly have feelings for each other while living in a dystopian hellhole grow close when they believe they’ll be dying soon.

That’s what leads to some smooches on camera.

But for Hemsworth, it was anything but comfortable.

Now, it had nothing to do with how the pair were friends off-camera, and it had everything to do with what Lawrence chose to eat.

According to reports, Hemsworth revealed that she would purposefully eat smelly foods just before they had to kiss, and didn’t brush her teeth either.

Speaking to various talk show hosts such as Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show, where he explained: “Any time I had to kiss Jennifer was pretty uncomfortable. When you look at it on the outside it looks like a great picture. She's one of my best friends.

“I love her. But if we had a kissing scene, she would make a point of eating garlic or tuna fish or something that was disgusting.

“Right before the scene she’d be like ‘yeah, I had garlic, I had tuna fish, and I didn’t brush my teeth’.”

He added his reaction to that was: “Fantastic. I can’t wait to get in there and taste it.”

This kiss sequence actually included a lot of mustard she’d eaten too, so you can imagine just how rank those kiss scenes really were.

When the pair were out for the NYC press conference for the movie, again, they spoke about her gross pranks and Lawrence defended herself.

She said at the table: "I gave him fair warning.”

In a 2014 interview with Nylon, the No Hard Feelings actor was asked about her kissing pranks, to which she said: "I wouldn't say that ... I would just kind of eat whatever I wanted; I think the onions that you were referring to was that I just had a sandwich with mustard and raw red onion."

Lawrence also addressed the claims during her infamous appearance on First We Feast's YouTube series Hot Ones.

She said: "It was not intentional. It was just what I was eating and then we've kiss."

The actor then joked to the host, Sean Evans: "He should just get over it."
