Mourning fans of One Direction star Liam Payne have gathered around his Buenos Aires hotel after it was confirmed that he tragically passed away yesterday.
Police in Argentina issued a statement confirming that Payne, 31 had died in the courtyard of his hotel after possibly falling from his third-floor window in the Palermo neighbourhood.
According to police sources, the incident happened at 17:04 at the CasaSur Hotel after police responded to reports of ‘an aggressive man possibly under the influence of drugs or alcohol.'

Upon their arrival, paramedics confirmed his death and City ambulance service provider spokesman Alberto Crescenti released a statement which revealed Payne had fallen around 40 metres, saying 'the injuries that he had suffered as a result of the fall proved to be fatal'.
He said: "The alarm was raised at 5.04pm local time saying a person was lying in an internal patio at Casa Sur," he said.
"At 5.11pm an ambulance arrived and the man was certified dead.

"Afterwards we found out he had been a famous singer. Unfortunately the injuries he had suffered as a result of the fall proved to be fatal. There was no possibility of resuscitating him."
Payne was reportedly planning to attend another former band-member’s concert, Niall Horan, who is currently on tour.
Since the heart-breaking news was released to the public, fans have been gathering around his hotel to collectively mourn the loss of their childhood music star.

Gathering cans could be seen standing outside of his hotel as the authorities conduct their business.
A candle-lit vigil was held in his memory, with fans crying and hugging each other through this tremendous shock.

The emergency services were on the scene, as well as investigators in the aftermath of the singer’s tragic death.
People online have been expressing their heart ache over the news, as it took them by surprise.
According to Sky News, one of Payne's social media accounts was active just an hour before his reported death, posting a selfie on Snapchat telling his fans about his plans for the day.

In his social media post, he wrote: "Today, we ride. We're going to ride some horses. Think I'm going to play polo again, which is going to put me out of action for about six weeks.
"It's so hard to do, number one, my back and my neck from swinging that hammer around... or mallet, I think it's called if you're in the know. It hurts a lot, it's very tough to do."
In the hours following his death, many took to their social media channels to share their tributes.
Paris Hilton shared her 'condolences' on X, writing: "So upsetting to hear the news of @LiamPayne passing. Sending love and condolences to his family & loved ones. RIP my friend."
Jedward also posted: "RIP Liam Payne. Condolences to friends and family."
The duo added in a follow-up tweet: "Sending strength to Cheryl and his son Bear and all the One direction Family. RIP @LiamPayne."
Charlie Puth took to Instagram, saying: "I am in shock right now. Liam was always so kind to me. He was one of the first major artists I got to work with. I can not believe he is gone..."

Crescenti confirmed that authorities are investigating the circumstances of his death and will be conducting an autopsy.
