After years away from the public eye, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen once decided to take a brief step back into the spotlight so they could share share a rare video message.
If you grew up watching The Adventures of Mary-Kate and Ashley, or Two of a Kind, or maybe had a full VHS collection of their movies - including Our Lips Are Sealed, Winning London and New York Minute - then I'm sure you'll have missed seeing what the Olsen twins have been up to over the last few years.

The pair have largely avoided Hollywood appearances since the early noughties, and they've previously spoken out about their preferences to avoid social media.
As a result, fans have been left grasping for insights about the pair from whatever source they can get their hands on - including the recent reports that Ashely has given birth to her first child.
The actor welcomed her child with husband Louis Eisner, though in true Olsen fashion, she didn't announce it herself on social media.
She and her twin sister rarely break their online silence - though it's not entirely out of the question, as fellow actor Ashley Benson proved a few years ago.

In 2019, the Pretty Little Liars star was celebrating her birthday on 18 December when she posted a video she'd received from Mary-Kate and Ashley.
The clip showed the pair wishing a happy birthday to the actor, saying: "Happy Birthday Ashely, I hope this year is one of the best ones yet. We're sending you lots of love.
"Can't wait to meet you soon!"

Benson shared the video with the caption, 'Dreams do come true,' and her post sparked a frenzy as fans expressed their delight at seeing a message from the Olsen twins.
"THIS IS SO AWESOME," one fan commented, while another wrote: "I watched this 20 times in a row."
The birthday video came a couple of years after the twins opened up to Net-a-Porter’s The Edit about their decision to stay off social media, saying: “We don’t dive into that world [of social media]; we don’t have Instagram or Facebook. We’ve stayed quite sheltered in that sense.”

In 2021, Mary-Kate doubled down on their decision as she told i-D they were 'raised to be discreet people'.
With that in mind, it's no surprise that Ashley's newborn is actually reported to have arrived a few months ago, and that she's been able to keep his arrival quiet. The baby boy is reported to have been named Otto.
