Hundreds upon hundreds of celebs rocked up to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City last night (6 May) for this year's Met Gala.
From Kim K and Tyla to Rita Ora and Doja Cat - fans across the globe tuned in to see exactly who would be walking the famous staircase and, more importantly, what they would be wearing.
However, there were some very noticeable absences throughout the evening with many viewers at home wondering why Met Gala mainstays like Rihanna and Blake Lively were never seen.

Now, some stars simply couldn't make the prestigious event but it's clear that other famous faces never rocked up to the function because Vogue's editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, banned them.
We already know all about the rules surrounding the prestigious gala with Anna and curator, Andrew Bolton, previously sitting down with CBS Mornings to reveal the two main rules that are put in play for the event.
The first rule that guests must adhere to is not smoking.

The second was that they had to keep their paws off the artwork and exhibitions at all costs.
If any celebrity is caught participating in either activity then it is likely their invite to the following Met Gala will be lost in the post.
Opening up about the regulations, Andrew said: "Smoking in the galleries. Touching the artwork. Those would be no-nos."

When asked about the smoking rule, the curator confirmed that famous faces have previously been caught lighting up in the restrooms.
Elsewhere in the interview, Anna revealed that there is no real way to make sure you’re invited to the fashion event.
"Honestly, it depends on the year, it depends on the subject of the exhibition. Really, there’s no clear answer to that."
With that said, however, it's clear there are circumstances that mean certain big names will never be allowed to come to the event.

Back in 2018, Anna sat down with James Corden The Late Late Show where she was asked to name any celebrity she would never invite back to the Met Gala.
She revealed the name was none other than the then-President of the United States who had attended the fashion event since way back when in the 1980s.
"Donald Trump," she responded while the audience erupted in a cheer.

Trump used to attend the gala every year and it was actually where he proposed to Melania back in 2004.
