Have you ever heard of the term ‘trad wife’?

It’s a shortened term for a traditional housewife, which essentially is when a woman stays home to cook, clean and deal with the children all day.

Accompanied by a husband whose only job is to work outside of the home - and we’re right back to the 1950s - except we now have some rights too.

But the trad wife trend on TikTok is baffling viewers, especially the content made by model, Nara Smith.

Nara, the wife of model, Lucky Blue Smith, has been sharing her videos for a while now, and has built up a following of 6.4 million people.

But some people are baffled about her obsession with making easily accessible foods from scratch.

I’m not talking about pancakes, bread or baked goods.

It’s her need to cook up bubble gum which has people pulling faces.

Now, I won’t get into her corn flake recipe, that’s for another day. However, the bubble gum fiasco is enough to dissect.

Talking to her viewers, Nara began to explain how her ‘sister’ (Lucky’s sister) was coming to visit the family and spoke about how she had been craving gum at the time.

Instead of buying it for her sister-in-law, she decided to show a step-by-step process of creating your own.

The mother of three showed her followers how to make the perfect pieces of gum for a family visit.

From corn syrup, a gum base, powdered sugar and a flavouring additive, it’s not too complicated.

Though, everyone is saying the same thing in the comments.

Someone said: “No making bubble gum is wild.”

Another said: “You’re actually joking me now.”

One person queried: “Where do you even purchase gum base?”

Another asked: “Genuine question, do you buy every ingredient in the supermarket when you go grocery shopping?”

All in all, a lot of people were confused by her hours of labour over something you can spend less than a pound on in a shop.

The 22-year-old has been blasted online before for ‘glorifying’ the trad wife life and people slated her for seemingly acting as if the life is easy to accomplish.

Especially given the fact that she is wealthy and has a lot of help with the children.

But I suppose you can’t please them all.

She has come out to show on multiple occasions that Lucky is a supportive and active member of the home and claims that making food is her love language.
