Melissa Schuman has shared a text message she claims Nick Carter sent her after he allegedly raped her.

Melissa, who was part of the American girl group Dream, alleged that Nick raped her in his Santa Monica apartment in 2003.
The 39-year-old first came forward with the allegations back in 2017 on a blog post on her website.
In the allegations, Melissa said she was an 18-year-old virgin when Nick allegedly raped her at his home.

At the time, Nick denied the allegations, saying that the sex they had was consensual.
Then, in February of last year, Melissa was included in a countersuit filed by Nick against Shannon Ruth - who sued him two months earlier for alleged sexual battery.
In April 2023, Melissa then sued Nick for sexual assault and battery over the alleged 2003 rape.

Both lawsuits are currently pending.
In the doc, Melissa revealed the texts she says she received following the alleged rape.
"Why did you make me do that?" she claims a message from Nick read.
Speaking on-screen, Melisa said: "That text message freaked me out."

"I confided in my manager about going to the police and reporting the crime. He told me, '[Nick] has the most powerful litigator in the country'."
Melissa's former manager, however, declined that she informed him about the alleged rape.
In a statement to Page Six made back in 2017, Nick said: "I am shocked and saddened by Ms. Schuman’s accusations.

"Melissa never expressed to me while we were together or at any time since that anything we did was not consensual.
"We went on to record a song and perform together, and I was always respectful and supportive of Melissa both personally and professionally.
"This is the first that I am hearing about these accusations, nearly two decades later. It is contrary to my nature and everything I hold dear to intentionally cause someone discomfort or harm."
