Devastated Ariana Grande fans make their feelings clear after seeing who won Best Supporting Actress at Oscars

The actress was nominated following her role as 'Glinda the Good' alongside Cynthia Erivo in Wicked

When Ariana Grande revealed earlier this year that she'd received her debut Academy Award nomination for her role as 'Glinda the Good' in Wicked, many fans of the actress had high hopes that it'd prove to be her year.

After all, the feature-length adaptation of the Broadway hit - which also starred Cynthia Erivo in the lead role as Elphaba, before she became the Wicked Witch of the West - was deemed a box office masterpiece.

I mean, it raked in $728 million worldwide!

Whilst Erivo was put up for Best Lead Actress, the 31-year-old Disney Channel alum was nominated for her Best Supporting role, alongside the likes of Monica Barbaro for A Complete Unknown, Felicity Jones for The Brutalist, Isabella Rossellini for Conclave, and Zoe Saldaña for Emilia Pérez.

So far, 'Side to Side' singer Grande has missed out on every other award from this year's season for her latest role - including at the Golden Globes last month, and last week's Screen Actor's Guild awards.

Naturally, therefore, many held onto hope that the Oscars would side with the much-loved star.

Sadly, however, Zoe Saldaña - who also beat Grande to the Golden Globe win - came out on top.

Though the Wicked actress immediately stood tall when her competitor's name was called as the category's winner - with a colossal smile splashed across her face - many fans watching from home have been left disgruntled by the loss.

One called out for 'JUSTICE FOR ARIANA GRANDE' on social media.

Another gave a brief mention to the upcoming second-half of the magical musical - to be released November 2025 - praying that will be the opportunity that sees Grande walking away with an accolade.

"i’m trusting the process for ariana’s future oscar win in 'wicked: for good' I TRUST IT," one claimed.

A third hit out: "ARIANA WAS ROBBED."

A fourth confessed: "Somebody who’s seen all the other movies please tell me if Ariana really didn’t deserve that Oscar. I was really rooting for home girl."

"Ariana didn't get the Oscar but she got our hearts and that's the only thing that matters," another continued with a more rational approach.

A sixth added of the star: "Even if she lost, Ariana dedicated so much time to her dream role as Glinda. being nominated was even such an achievement for someone as young as her. We’re proud of you Ari congrats for everything."
