Over the years, it's clear the Oscars has seen a number of dramatic and sometimes pretty controversial moments.
From the Oscars 'curse' selfie back in 2014 to Angelina Jolie smooching her own brother in 2000 and, of course, the infamous Will Smith slap in 2022 - it's clear the Academy Awards always come with a high dose of theatrics.
And the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday (2 March) was clearly no different after seeing Halle Berry finally 'get revenge' on Adrien Brody on the red carpet after waiting 22 years.
Now, for some context, the whole saga started over two decades ago back in 2003.

During that ceremony, Berry presented Brody with the Best Actor accolade for his performance in The Pianist, making him the youngest ever actor to receive the gong.
However, when Brody took to the stage to accept the award, he embraced Berry before kissing her and joking: "I bet they didn’t tell you that was in the gift bag."
The surprise smooch, alongside Berry's seriously stunned reaction, went on to make headlines around the globe.
The impromptu kiss came one year after Berry's own Best Actress victory with her revisiting the ordeal back in 2017 where she told Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live: "I was there the year before and I know the feeling of being out of your body, I just f**king went with it. "But I was like, 'What the f**k is going on right now?'"

Brody, whose film The Brutalist was up for a staggering 10 Academy Awards this year, received criticism for the kiss and recently addressed the situation in February of this year,
"We live in a very conscious time, which is a wonderful thing," he told Variety. "And nothing that I ever do or have done or would’ve done is ever done with the intention of making anyone feel bad."
Flash-forward 22 years and it's clear that while there appears to be no bad blood between the two Hollywood A-listers, Berry hasn't forgotten about it as she finally got her 'payback'.

The pair met on the red carpet during last night's ceremony where Berry looked at Brody's girlfriend, Georgina Chapman, before telling her: "I'm sorry, Georgina, but I got to do it."
She then smooched Brody on the lips as the crowd erupted into a cheer before the pair smiled and shared a warm embrace as Brody kissed Berry on the cheek. Have a look at the moment below:
"I'm so sorry, I had to do that," Berry told Chapman who seemingly took the stunt in good spirits as she smiled on.
trueSpeaking to Variety after her 'payback' kiss, Berry addressed the 2003 incident, saying: "That was one hell of a night for him, and for me as well."

"To be a part of his moment … tonight I had to pay him back," she explained. "I’ve seen him out at parties, but this is the first time since that night that I’ve seen him on the red carpet somewhere. He’s nominated this year. He deserved that."
