Paul Mescal has revealed his ultimate ick, and we’re afraid it’s one that everyone is probably guilty of at one point or another...
Find out what his biggest turn-off is below:
Dating icks are somehow so personal, and yet so universal - whether it’s someone chewing with their mouth open, being rude to restaurant staff or having an Instagram account for their pet.

While we can’t always explain why they feel so offensive, it’s fair to say that they’re difficult to come back from. After all, once you’ve been given the ick, it’s hard to shake it off.
While actor Paul Mescal may have become a household name after rising to fame in 2020 miniseries Normal People, it turns out his own everyday turn-offs are just as relatable as ours.
The actor recently sat down with Tyla’s parent company LADbible to chat about everything from personalised number plates to roast potatoes alongside All Of Us Strangers co-star Andrew Scott, as part of our 'Agree to Disagree' series.

One question saw the duo posed with the idea of whether or not ‘someone running upstairs on all fours’ would give them the ick - a topic they had a surprising amount to say on.
Initially, Mescal said: “Strongly disagree, I think it’s funny!”
However, Scott then probed a little further.

“Yeah, but are they conscious of it?” he asked.
“Are they doing it to make you laugh?”
He and Mescal then agreed it was more so if someone was just ‘quickly’ running upstairs like a bit of a gremlin - with Scott's impression leaving his fellow actor in stitches.

“That’s the ick!” Mescal said, continuing: “Do you know what would give even more of an ick, because I think we all do it, is if you’re like, ‘Oh, I’m just gonna go down to turn off the lights’.
“And they’re being all chill, and then you hear them accelerate up the stairs because they’re scared.
“Because I think we all do it, but I think if I was trying to impress someone, I’d smoothly walk up the stairs.”

As for someone sliding downstairs on their bum? That’s even worse, according to Mescal.

“That gives me more of the ick, because it’s not as funny, it’s just a bit weird... It’s less of a big gesture, with your bum!” he said, joking that you’d just end up breaking your coccyx.
Well, that's something to think about if you ever find yourself lucky enough to have Mescal round for dinner.
