Selena Gomez has made a brave admission about the reason why she chooses not to sleep in her own bedroom at night, claiming that to do so would drag her back to a 'dark time' in her life.
The actress, 34, has been an open book in recent years about the ups and downs of her mental wellbeing.

Back in 2022, Selena released a documentary titled My Mind & Me, where she lifted the lid on her recent double diagnosis psychosis and bipolar depression.
The star previously claimed that, during her worst days, she struggled to 'leave her bed for years'.
"I didn't want to leave my bed for years," she said. "And part of it was I wasn't doing the work, and you have to believe in yourself to do the work that will truly enlighten you a little bit."

Since then, the Wizards of Waverley Place star has claimed she finds it difficult to sleep in her bedroom, being that it reminds her of the toughest bouts of her struggles with mental health.
Speaking at New York's Wondermind Mental Fitness Summit last Thursday in honour of World Mental Health Day, Selena firstly updated her fans on how she deals with her anxiety.
"I am a very anxious person," she began. "It’s kind of like doomsday, and I think having a positive conversation with yourself, even if that sounds weird, it’s really impactful.

"Like before I step out of the car, and there’s going to be lots of noises and stuff—if that’s the case, I’m not saying that’s every day—but I have to breathe, and I have to say, 'All of this is a gift, and I may not be in the mood for this, [but] every time I see someone and end up making them smile, [it] always just makes my day no matter how I’m feeling'."
She then went on to address her sleeping arrangements: "I’m a little bit different than my mom, because I spent too much time in my bedroom that I actually don’t even sleep in my bedroom anymore, because I associate it with such a really dark time."
Selena continued: "Being anxious is so debilitating sometimes, and yeah, I didn’t want to leave my bed for years, and part of it was I wasn’t doing the work.
"And you have to believe in yourself to do the work that will truly enlighten you a little bit."
