Heartbreaking reason why Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter Shiloh has decided to officially change name

Heartbreaking reason why Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter Shiloh has decided to officially change name

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt went through a high profile split in 2016

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter Shiloh has officially dropped her dad's surname - now going by Shiloh Jolie - according to reports.

The change follows recent reports that two of her siblings, Vivienne, 16, and Zahara, 19, had made the same decision.

Shiloh, 18, first began making steps to change her name back in May, as per a statement released at the time by her lawyer Peter Levine.

Levine told People: "The media should be more careful in their reporting, especially when covering a young adult who has made an independent and significant decision following painful events, and is merely following legal process.

"As Shiloh's attorney, I am required to publish a legal notice because the law in California requires that of anyone who wants to change their name.

"That legal notice was published in The Los Angeles Times, as is required."

The name changes follow a lawsuit filed by Angelina against her ex-husband Brad in 2022 which claimed he had been abusive towards her and their children during a flight in 2016.

The filing alleged that Brad had 'choked' one of their six children while on the private jet, and 'struck another in the face'.

It went on to allege Brad had 'grabbed' Angelina 'by the head', and 'poured beer and red wine on the children'.

Brad's legal team have always maintained his innocence.

Brad and Angelina went public with their relationship in 2006, got married in 2014 and split in 2016 due to 'irreconcilable differences'.

Legal proceedings were initially kicked off by Brad, 60, who attempted to sue Angelina, 49, for selling her share of Chateau Miraval, their jointly-purchased French winery.

Following all of the accusations being made, three of their children are said to have dropped 'Pitt' from their double-barrelled surnames.

The two also share the children Maddox, 21, and Pax, 20.

On Father's Day 2020, Pax said on Instagram: "Happy Father's Day to this world-class a***hole!

"You time and time and again prove yourself to be a terrible and despicable person."

He went on to add: "You have no consideration or empathy toward your four youngest children who tremble in fear when in your presence. You will never understand the damage you have done to my family because you are incapable of doing so."

The statement was originally posted to his 'close friends' Story on Instagram, but was later leaked to press.

Zahara's supposed name change came to light after she reportedly introduced herself as Zahara Jolie when joining her sorority at Spelman College in Atlanta, Georgia, in 2023.

Vivienne's name change was reported following her being named as Vivienne Jolie on the Playbill of stage show The Outsiders in May of this year.

Tyla previously contacted Jolie and Pitt's representatives for comment.
