Travis Kelce has heartbreaking response to Donald Trump taking ‘dig’ at Taylor Swift

An inside source explained why it 'just hasn’t been a good week' for the couple

It's not been a great time for Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce recently following his 40-22 loss against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday (9 February).

Not only did his team lose the eagerly-anticipated final, but he also had to deal with his girlfriend Taylor Swift receiving a fair bit of abuse during the game after a crowd erupted into a chorus of boos when the jumbotron panned to her.

And, as if things couldn't get any worse, the president on the United States, Donald Trump, took it upon himself to poke fun out of the situation which left Swift visibly upset - something which seemingly didn't go down well with Kelce.

A source close to Kelce told the MailOnline: "Travis was aware of Taylor getting booed and he felt helpless. Seeing the look on her face got to him.

"He always protects her and it broke his heart. He was already having a tough night and the fact that the stadium was predominantly Eagles fans didn't help. Travis knows that this hurt her and anyone can see this."

The source continued to claim: "It’s clear to many that the Eagles fans feel she is a traitor of sorts - being from Pennsylvania and even wearing Eagles gear prior to dating him."

They also responded to Trump's response to Taylor being booed.

The 78-year-old Republican leader, whose appearance marked the first time a sitting American president has attended the major sporting event, shared a post to his social media platform, Truth Social, that said: "Trump gets massive cheers at the Super Bowl while Taylor Swift gets booed.

"The world is healing!"

He added in a follow-up post: "The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium.

"MAGA is very unforgiving!"

Responding to such comments, the MailOnline source continued: "Travis believes that it was unnecessary for Trump to take a dig at her especially after he voiced that he was honoured for a president to be there."

They concluded: "After Taylor being shut out for a Grammy and Travis losing the biggest game of the year it just hasn’t been a good week for them. But he knows that even though this is not a happy ending to the season having her love gives him so much joy."

Prior to Trump's 'dig', Kelce was asked what he thought of the president's attendance at the game, to which he said it was a 'great honour'.

He continued: "I think, you know, no matter who the president is, I know I’m excited because it’s the biggest game of my life, you know, and having the president there, you know, it’s the best country in the world. So, that’d be pretty cool."
