Zac Efron’s face transformation explained after fans point out 'extreme' difference

Zac Efron’s face transformation explained after fans point out 'extreme' difference

Some people made cruel comments about Zac Efron's appearance in his latest film 'A Family Affair'

Fans of Zac Efron have been commenting on his 'face transformation' in their droves, but the reason behind his change in appearance is actually nothing to do with plastic surgery, with Zac himself actually admitting he 'almost died'.

The 36-year-old The Iron Claw actor first shot to fame following the widespread success of the High School Musical franchise before going on to star in a number of hit films including 17 Again, The Greatest Showman and Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.

Despite Zac skyrocketing to global fame at just 18 years old, people still seem to be expressing shock that his appearance has changed.

Off the back of his latest film, Netflix's A Family Affair, which he stars in alongside Joey King and Nicole Kidman, many viewers expressed an inability to concentrate due to his looks.

Plenty of people claimed Zac has undergone plastic surgery.

One person tweeted: "No chemistry between Zac and Nicole, and I can't watch the plastic surgery faces anymore, it's creepy. Didn't finish the movie."

But, it's very important to note that Zac has been open about the reason behind his changing appearance.

'I almost died'

Men's Health reported that an incident occurred in 2013 when he was 'running through his house in socks when he slipped, smacked his face on the granite corner of a fountain, and lost consciousness'.

When Zac woke up, 'his chin bone was hanging off his face'.

He added about the backlash: "If I valued what other people thought of me to the extent that they may think I do, I definitely wouldn’t be able to do this work.”

Ultimately, to many, Zac's jawline looks wider than before due to the fact different facial muscles have had to work harder to compensate for the injury that could have killed him.

He told Entertainment Tonight about the scale of his injuries: "I don't really read the internet.

"It was funny. It sucked. I almost died."
