Real reason Love Island contestants wear sunglasses in bed revealed

Real reason Love Island contestants wear sunglasses in bed revealed

Avid Love Island fans, this one's for you

Love Island fans may feel puzzled as to why their favourite Islanders are hardly ever seen without sunglasses in bed.

The Villa singles looking for love often rock their shades in the morning for the usual round-up of close-ups. And while it's understandable that nobody would want a camera right in their faces when they're barely awake, it turns out that showing their best camera-ready face has little to do with it.

As Love Island: All Stars has returned for season 2, past contestant Tasha Ghouri has cleared up the sunglasses mystery for the rest of us watching at home.

Tasha, who made history as the first Love Island deaf contestant, said she was one of the few Islanders who didn't feel the need to cover their eyes in the morning.

However, the Strictly Come Dancing runner-up explained why some of her co-stars seem to prefer wearing sunglasses in bed. And while cameras are behind it, it's not for the reason you think.

"I was probably the only one who didn't wear sunglasses in the morning, I got used to it!" Tasha told Wales Online.

She said that the camera and the sudden bright lights used for filming could be quite harsh for the Islanders in the morning.

"It is bright because it is literally like 'boom' [lights come on] and even though you've got your eyes closed, your eyes just go light inside so everyone puts their sunglasses on," she said.

She did confirm that some Islanders use sunglasses not just to protect their eyes from the lights but some of them would use shades to get some extra sleeping time, she revealed.

"But people would sleep behind the glasses and the voice of God [villa voiceover] used to tell them off and be like: 'We can see you're sleeping behind the sunglasses!'" Tasha said.

Meanwhile in the Villa, the current sunglasses-wearing bunch is enjoying getting to know each other and causing some drama.

Contrary to fans' predictions, it seems that exes from season 3, Marcel Sommerville and Gabby Allen, aren't involved in some terrible love triangle, after all.

While the two exes, who were originally paired on All Stars, have amicably and maturely moved on with other people and had a chat about it, some other triangle has captured the viewers' attention.

Suddenly single Kaz Crossley told her friend Elma Pazar that she interned to go after her partner Ronnie Vint and wanted to be honest about it. When Ronnie and Kaz kissed moments after he'd locked lips with Elma, she didn't take it too well.

The drama was halted by a swift recoupling, with Ronnie confirming he'd like to stay with Elma, whilst Luca Bish picked Kaz.
