For many of us, TikTok has become a part of our daily lives.
Whether we're using it to hunt down new fashion trends, learn more about our favourite celebrities or endlessly doom scroll to get to sleep - it's clear the popular social media app - which reportedly boasts over 1.58 billion monthly active users across the globe - is one of the culprits behind why all of our screen time has seemingly skyrocketed in past few years.
But, have you ever wondered what the most viewed TikTok actually is? And why has it been able to go so viral?

The clip in question was uploaded by a user with the handle @lasi back in 2023 and has a mammoth 3.6 billion views.
Wondering what on earth it could be to have racked up over a third of the world's population?
Well, it's quite literally just a black screen.

With no sound.
Or caption.
And it goes on for just 10 seconds.

There's really not much more to say on that, really, and it's clear TikTok users who happened to have the mysteriously elusive video come up on their algorithm feel the same.
"How did this black picture get 3.6b views?" wondered one user.
A second quipped: "3.6b views for a black screen is crazy!"
"This is it? Dead*ss?" hit out a third, while a fourth piped up: "3.6b views for a black screen that's hella wild dawg."

Someone else hit out: "And it’s absolutely nothing!"
And a final TikTok user joked: "Proof we'll watch anything."
More bizarrely, the account, which boasts a whopping 459k followers has no profile picture or bio and only follows three accounts.

The account also only has two public videos, the first being the one discussed earlier, and the second and final one which has a still sizeable 14.3 million views is an anime fan edit which was also posted two years ago.
The second most watched TikTok of all time was posted by YouTuber, Zach King, whose 2019 video captioned: "They rejected my application to Hogwarts but I still found a way to be a wizard," shows him waltzing around on a broomstick, before asking a friend, 'Do you like my costume?'.
The video has a still impressive 2.3 billion views - which gives a pretty hefty 1.3 billion view gap between the two most watched TikToks on the app.
King also gave his thoughts about his competitor, writing in the comments: "Maybe my videos were too bright!"
