Meghan Trainor has called off her upcoming Get In Girl tour, much to the heartache of thousands of fans.

The 'Dear Future Husband' hit-maker had been scheduled to kick off her string of shows in the US, starting with Clarkston, Michigan, on 12 June.

After that, she was on track to hit several other major American cities, including Chicago, Philadelphia, Nashville, and Houston, before travelling overseas.

Trainor would have been joined by Swedish pop group, Iconic Pop, who'd already been announced as her support act.

The tour cancellation comes just days ahead of the release of the 32-year-old's seventh studio album, Toy With Me.

The musician broke the disappointing news on social media yesterday (16 April), claiming the decision was certainly not an easy one to make.

Why has Meghan Trainor cancelled her tour?

"After a lot of reflection and some really tough conversations, I’ve made the difficult decision to cancel The Get In Girl Tour," Trainor wrote.

She quickly confirmed that the cancellation had been spurred by the recent arrival of her third child.

"Balancing the release of a new album, preparing for a nationwide tour and welcoming our new baby girl to our growing family of five has just been more than I can take on right now," the 'All About That Bass' singer continued.

"And I need to be home and present for each and all of them at this time."

'This is the right decision for my family and me right now'

Apologising to ticket-holders, Trainor added: "I know this will come as a disappointment to my fans, I am so sorry to let you down."

The mother-of-three insisted: "I know this is the right decision for my family and me right now. I promise I’ll be back soon, and I can’t wait for you to hear this new record. I’m so proud of it, and I’m endlessly grateful for your love and support always."

Trainor welcomed a daughter in January with her actor husband, Daryl Sabara, 33. The couple are already parents to two sons, five-year-old Riley and two-year-old Barry.

Their baby girl had been born via surrogacy, which triggered quite the controversy among online critics at the time.

"We are forever grateful to all the doctors, nurses, teams who made this dream possible," Trainor penned in the caption of an Instagram snap of the tot in January, explaining she and Sabara had previously endured 'endless conversations with our doctors'.

She went on to claim they'd deemed surrogacy 'the safest way' for them to be able to 'continue growing' their family.

Trainor and Sabara revealed they'd chosen the name Mikey Moon for their latest addition.

"We are over the moon in love with this precious girl," the chart-topper gushed. "Riley and Barry have been so excited, they even got to choose her middle name. We are going to enjoy our family time now, love you all."
