It has been one hell of a ride for Taylor Swift, who dominated the MTV Video Music Awards last night.
The singer, who is best known for creating the most complex pop hits that dash a little country and folk in from time to time, was handed seven different awards as a solo-artist during yesterday's award ceremony (September 11).
This meant that the 'Bad Blood' singer became the most decorated solo artist in the history of the VMAs overnight.

Even though she was already the most nominated artist from the get-go, she soon surpassed Beyoncé’s record after winning her 30th VMA.
Beyoncé has had 25 solo artist VMAs and two with Destiny’s Child and another two with her husband Jay-Z as the Carters.
Swift's mega success immediately led fans to go wild and compare this golden moment to a very different VMAs experience she once had.

Yes, we’re talking about the 2009 VMA awards when Swift was rudely interrupted on stage by rapper Kanye West.
As probably one of the most sensational things to ever happen at the awards show, it was a devastating blow for the young country singer, who had just begun her career. Take a look:
As Swift accepted her first VMA for Best Female Video for her wildly loved ‘You Belong with Me’ song, West jumped onto the stage during her speech, grabbed the mic and said to the shocked audience: "Yo, Taylor, I'm really happy for you, I'ma let you finish, but Beyoncé had one of the best videos of all time!"

Swift could do nothing but stand awkwardly and look stunned, while Beyoncé looked equally as horrified as West compared the two singers and demanded that the 'Single Ladies' star should have won the award.
Thankfully, now that 15 years have passed since the cringe-worthy moment, it’s a whole different outlook in the music world and Swift is officially right up there with the greats.
Accepting the first of seven wins for best collaboration with Post Malone for their song ‘Fortnight’, the 34-year-old singer reminded everyone at last night's VMAs that it was the anniversary of 9/11.

She said during her heartfelt tribute: “Waking up this morning in New York on September 11th, I’ve just been thinking about what happened 23 years ago.
“Everyone who lost a loved one and everyone that we lost and that is the most important thing today. And everything that happens tonight falls behind that.”
But everyone remembers the 2009 moment like it was yesterday, especially her fans who took to X to compare the two moments.
Not only did they compare her interrupted speech to her record-breaking award, but they also speculated that it was all part of a decades long plan for revenge.

One person said: “She went from getting interrupted while winning her first VMA to being the most awarded artist in the VMAs history. This is what the real revenge is.”
As another wrote: “Kanye was found crying on the floor.”
Someone else said: “And K**** was saying Beyonce is better or something, now she took Beyonce's most awarded artist.”
Finally, a user stated: “It's so nice seeing that revenge can take years to manifest. its a nice reminder that good things come to those who wait.”
