Netflix is no stranger to including X-rated scenes in a lot of its movies and series over the years - Bridgerton, we're looking at you.
But now, the streaming giant has been forced to remove a sex scene in an extremely controversial hit crime series all about a Spanish drug smuggler after he complained.
The series, which is set in 1980s Galicia, Spain, follows a young fisherman who becomes a prosperous cocaine smuggler by providing Latin American suppliers with a European entry point. Check out the official trailer here:
But Laureano Oubiña, who hails from from Galicia, was far from happy with Netflix's depiction of him as a violent and sexist cocaine trafficker in Cocaine Coast (Fariña) which first dropped on the site back in 2018.

He has since decided to sue the company and its producer with a judge now ordering Netflix to remove one sex scene when a police raid interrupts the encounter with his wife, which takes place in the first episode of the 10-part drama, and pay Oubiña €15,000 for allegedly violating his privacy.
The 78-year-old, who has already been convicted of drug trafficking and money laundering, also demanded that the streamer paid him a staggering €1.5 million for the 'moral damage' the series had caused.
Oubiña's lawyer, Jorge Paladino, said per The Times: "The life of Mr Laureano Oubiña has worsened considerably since the broadcast of this series because he is portrayed as a person capable of taking the life of another, [a] violent, sexist, a cocaine trafficker, impotent, vicious, unfaithful, a bad father, a bad husband, a brute, foolish, vengeful, an abuser of women, ignorant and a mafioso."

The court analysed the 'collision' between the artistic creation and the right to one's own image and found that a work that is 'inspired by reality' cannot be subject to a 'demand for veracity', the outlet reports.
It also added that the depiction of the 'narco' drug smuggler in the series is not 'very different' from Oubiña's.
The court judged that the sex scene in question was not justified by 'the undeniable creative freedom of the creators and producers of the series' and ordered Netflix to remove the 'explicit sex' scene adding that it only served to 'hook the viewer into the plot'.

And this isn't the first time Netflix has had a lawsuit thrown its way as Baby Reindeer’s 'real Martha', Fiona Harvey, also recently sued the streamer for £132 million.
