Netflix viewers left speechless after watching ‘disgusting’ true crime documentary

Netflix viewers left speechless after watching ‘disgusting’ true crime documentary

The shocking three-part docuseries landed on Netflix on 3 July

Last week, Netflix dropped a spine-chilling documentary that had people shaken to the core by the trailer alone.

Now that viewers have had chance to watch it all, they have shared their reactions at being completely gobsmacked by the series of events.

The three-episode docuseries follows in the harrowing footsteps of other Netflix titles, including Tell Them You Love Me and Six Schizophrenic Brothers.

The shocking story of The Man With 1,000 Kids chronicles the choices of 43-year-old Jonathan Meijer, a Dutch sperm donor who began donating sperm in 2007.

While it at first seems like a selfless and helpful act - he broke all of the rules and now fathers more children than should have ever been allowed.

After being outed for his behaviour, Meijer now works as a musician.

Ultimately, it seems he was so successful with his fathering endeavours due to the fact he stood out to many people who required a sperm donor.

His appearance and penchant for music seemed to encourage the birth of healthy, attractive and talented babies.

It transpires that Meijer's donations weren't just confined to the Netherlands - where he donated to 11 sperm banks - but also spanned several countries and continents.

The Netherlands' national limit of children a person can supply sperm for is 25.

Meijer is thought to have fathered 1,000.

The documentary includes testimony from clinical embryologist Dr Max Curfs who stresses that there are limits on sperm donation that must be adhered to.

This is to prevent the children that are both from being involved in consanguineous relationships, or incest - unbeknownst to them.

The documentary also hears testimonies from the families affected.

As for Meijer, director Josh Allott told Tudum: "I did meet [Jonathan] in order to speak to him about being in the documentary.

"We approached him a number of times to be interviewed and gave him a right to reply at the end. He refused to comment on any of the allegations in the series."

Viewers cannot believe what they've watched.

One person wrote: "You need to watch The Man with 1000 Kids on Netflix. I’m still speechless."

Another said: "So, I just watched 'The Man With 1000 Kids' on Netflix and I honestly don't know what to say. I thought 'Our Father' was bad but this... idek. I have no words. Every episode had a new twist that made everything even worse and I was just like..."

While a third chimed: “The Man with 1000 kids is f***ing disgusting."
