Selling Sunset’s Chelsea Lazkani addressed one detail fans noticed when she first appeared in series

Selling Sunset’s Chelsea Lazkani addressed one detail fans noticed when she first appeared in series

A new season of the hit reality show landed on Netflix today

Everyone's favourite glamorous reality show is back with a brand new season today and fans are overjoyed.

The luxury real estate agents at the Oppenheim Group teamed up with Netflix back in 2019 and thus, we got what we never knew we needed: Selling Sunset.

The high-end real estate brokerage firm employs a plethora of stunning women who sell houses at astronomical prices all over Los Angeles.

The lineup has changed over time, with faces such as Christine Quinn bidding the firm and TV series adieu, and newer faces such as Emma Hernan and Chelsea Lazkani joining the lineup.

When Chelsea burst on the scene in 2022, fans were enamoured by her accent.

Chelsea was born in London, attended the University of Birmingham and the University of Dundee, and eventually moved to America.

The result is a very interesting transatlantic accent - but prompted some viewers to suggest it was all put on.

Chelsea made a video defending her accent at the time.

She said: "Word on the street is my accent is fake.

"I know, it's all over the place, but listen, there's an explanation."

She added: "I've lived in different countries in my short 29 years of life.

"I've lived in London, I've lived in Switzerland. I lived in New Jersey, and I now Live in Los Angeles."

Chelsea continued: "So my accent is a mish-mash of all the places I've lived. But I'm a London girl at heart."

Tan France, of Queer Eye fame, questioned Chelsea on her accent at the season five reunion.

Chelsea said: "My parents are Nigerian, so I grew up in a household where my parents had an accent, right?

“I lived in London for the first 10 years of my life, and then I moved to Switzerland, and then I moved to New Jersey, then I moved to New York, and now I live in Los Angeles, so I’ve been all about the gaff.”

Chelsea later took to X to add: "If you think you’re irritated with my accent, Imagine me? I almost fainted listening to myself back.

"You mean to tell me this is how I sound? WooooooooOOooW."

For what it's worth, we think she's got a great accent.

One user on X jumped to defend her at the time.

They wrote: "Everyone saying Chelsea’s accent is fake London… it just sounds like an American and London accent blended to me. She’s been there for 6 years. It’s possible, duh."

Season 8 of Selling Sunset is now streaming on Netflix.
