The man who’s been credited by some as ‘starting brain rot’ is back and viral again on the internet after a decade - and everyone is saying the same thing.
And if you don’t know what we’re talking about, maybe the words Pen, Pineapple, Apple, Pen will jog your memory?
Yep, that’s right; the man behind the viral meme and catchy song that we couldn’t escape back in 2016 has made a comeback online.
The Japanese comedian and TV personality sent the internet into overdrive almost 10 years ago when he came up with the bizarre tune, which quickly became a viral sensation.

His real name is Kazuhito Kosaka, but he’s perhaps best known for his more popular stage name Pikotaro, under which he released the ‘original brain rot tune’. He also goes by Daimaou Kosaka.
And now, the icon himself is seemingly back, having released an updated video and version of the song, which has been quickly making its way around the internet.
If you need a reminder, you can watch the OG video here:
The new clip was shared by the Instagram meme page @memezar on Wednesday (3 July) as well as being posted on the star's TikTok page, and people have rushed to the comments to share their thoughts.

“Why do I feel like the world is slowly healing?” one user wrote.
Meanwhile, a second added: “You know what? Good for him. I hope they finally pay that man his money,” with a third chiming in with: “Who else started cheesing at their phone? What a delight.”
Others hilariously credited the comedian with starting ‘brainrot’ and said he was ahead of his time with the quirky clip.
Brain rot is simply a slang term for the supposed mental decline associated with excessive, and repetitive online content consumption.

Take a look at the new video here:
Instagram users penned: “The guy who started the brainrot” and “The world wasn't ready for this brain rot 10 years ago.”
Others added: “He was the brainrot before brainrot ever brainrotted” and “guys he came back to brainrot reset!!”

However, there was one detail in the video that viewers just simply couldn’t get over - how he seemingly hasn’t aged in almost a decade.
According to the internet, he should be around 51 years old by now, although you wouldn’t be able to guess that by looking at him. The viral legend looks almost exactly the same as he did when we were first graced with his presence all the way back in 2016.

Shocked internet users penned: “Did he get younger or just stopped aging?” and “He hasn’t aged-”

“Why isn't he aging,” questioned another, while someone else claimed:“the guy hasn't aged a single day“.
Another social media user joked: “He probably was frozen right after his song went viral. He is still in the same clothes.”
Elsewhere, someone else wrote: “Why has he not aged?? He looks amazing.”
We're definitely here for this comeback!
