It's been a total whirlwind ever since Baby Reindeer hit our screens last month (11 April).

The seven-part Netflix drama has left viewers absolutely hooked on the 'true story' of Richard Gadd, who found himself in a terrifying situation when he was relentlessly harassed by a stalker played by Jessica Gunning.

For some time afterwards, he received over 40,000 emails, 740 tweets, 350 hours of voicemail, 100 letters and 45 Facebook messages from the woman in question.

Since then, Richard has spoken out on the one part of Baby Reindeer he’ll never speak of again.

Sitting down with The Hollywood Reporter (THR), the 35-year-old comedian opened up about what life now looks like following the success of the TV show and, alongside it, the fan speculation over the true identities of the characters.

In the face of this speculation, Richard previously issued a warning to fans, pleading with them not to dive deep into identifying the real criminal and insisting that that's 'not the point'.

Taking to Instagram, he penned an emotional statement: "People I love, have worked with, and admire (including Sean Foley) are unfairly getting caught up in speculation.

"Please don’t speculate on who the real life people could be. That’s not the point of our show."

Richard signed off: "Lots of love, Richard x X."

Despite his pleas, people haven't stopped theorising on the real life identities of the people from the show including the likes of Piers Morgan interviewing the 'real life Martha', Fiona Harvey, just last week.

Richard told THR he was sent a video 'the other day' of someone claiming to be Teri, the character who played Donny's girlfriend in the programme.

"I’d never met them before in my life," he confirmed. "The internet just does this thing and I just have to let it do its thing. And that’s that."

When asked how he responds to stuff like that, the comic replied: "I don’t agree with the sleuth thing.

"I’ve put out a statement publicly saying I want the show to be received as a piece of art, and I want the show to people to enjoy as a piece of art.

"I’m called Donny Dunn. It exists in a sort of fictional realm, even though it’s based on truth, it exists in a fictional realm, let’s enjoy the world that I’ve created."

Richard added: "If I wanted the real life people to be found, I would’ve made it a documentary.

"I’ve spoken publicly about how I don’t want people to do it and if I start playing a game of whack-a-mole, then I’m almost adding to it.

"I don’t think I’ll ever comment on it ever again."
